I heard that mail carriers who have an accident, whether they fall on ice or have an auto accident, are disciplined for that and can be suspended. I was wondering if that was the case.
The U.S. Postal Service expects its employees to work safely, and if they do not work safely, they will be held accountable, Lawrence Postmaster Bill Reynolds said.
If a letter carrier was sitting in a Postal Service vehicle and someone ran into the vehicle, the employee wouldn't be disciplined, Reynolds said. If an employee caused a vehicle accident, there would be disciplinary action, he said.
As for an employee falling on the ice, no, there would be no disciplinary action for that, Reynolds said.
