Back in 1991, Darren Fulcher was elected Kansas University student body president, but he was made to leave office and Alan Lowden, who was Asian-American, became president. Granted he was elected as vice president, but I think he was the first Asian-American president. I was wondering if that was true?
Yes, said David Ambler, KU's vice chancellor for student affairs. Jonathan Ng, recently elected president for next year, is believed to be the first Asian-American elected to serve as president.
Lowden was made president when Student Senate removed Darren Fulcher from office. But Ambler, who's been at KU since 1977, said it was impossible to know for sure whether they were the first Asian-Americans to hold the post.
