I was wondering why Haskell University isn't having summer school this summer, and why did it wait so long to announce it wasn't having it?

Haskell Indian Nations University dropped its summer school program last month after learning the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs had increased the college's $8 million budget by only $250,000.

Buzzard said the decision was announced as soon as university officials realized the money wasn't in the budget. Dropping summer school is expected to save between $300,000 and $400,000.

A story on the decision appeared in the Journal-World on Feb. 16.
