How much do school board members receive for compensation for being on the school board? Why don't they have to pay when they eat at the cafeterias?

Supt. Randy Weseman said board members received no salary. Travel by board members on school district business is reimbursed, he said.

In regards to meals in school cafeterias, board members meet as a group during the year with teachers and staff at each school. These informal lunch-time discussions are designed to improve the board's knowledge of school issues.

Weseman said each school's food service program billed the district office for school board members' meals because these meetings have been considered official business.
