Maple Hill junior Dillon Barnes pulls on a fly rail, which raises and lowers set pieces from the fly loft above the stage. Barnes said that although he was never into theater before taking a job on the crew, he really enjoys it now — especially the backstage view for every show.

When these empty seats in the Lied Center fill with spectators before a show, assistant technical director Erika Eden fades into the background. For the past two years, Eden and her crew handle lighting, audio, changing sets and a multitude of other tasks that make the shows go smoothly.
