Who should be in charge of making sure construction at public schools is safe?

Asked at Massachusetts Street on September 13, 2015

“I guess the state. I have kids in the school system — little kids don't care about 'Do Not Enter' signs.”

“To me, any public or non-public organization or office that has experience. Do the construction companies have experience making a learning environment safe for children? To me the best thing for our schools is to make children feel safe and happy — then teaching comes.”

“Usually that's the foreman's job, and the safety inspector of the construction company. There should be a city inspector, also — it's a collaborative effort.”

“In the city, that would have to be city code enforcement. (Schools) can't be self-reporting — that never works.”
