Why does everyone want to be a lion tamer? What about trapeze artist? Or elephant trainer?

I'm with you on this Angel, there are so many things to do in a circus. I would be a contortionist.

The reality check is that I would probably end up selling peanuts, just as Toby did after running away from home in: 'Toby Tyler; or, Ten Weeks with a Circus'

Although I believe Toby learned to ride a horse while standing up and wearing a costume before running away from the circus and going back home.

The story was first published in 1877, was very popular for generations, and then rewritten for a more modern audience in the 1960s. It was also made into a movie by Walt Disney in 1960.

Like many other things, working in a circus sounds very glamorous until you have done it for a while.

The Ringmistress !

Chances are I'd end up being the shady lady back by the mermaid tank, or a fortune-teller, though.
