How do you get into the spirit of giving around the holidays?
Asked at Massachusetts Street on November 02, 2013
“We have an 8-year-old, and we give him a $3 allowance every week, which he puts into three jars labeled ‘save,’ ‘spend,’ ‘give.’ Before the holidays, we talk to him about who he will donate the ‘give’ to.”
— Allison Rose-Lopez, Public Information Director at the KU school of journalism, Lawrence
“During the holidays, I think about and am thankful for all I have in life. Thinking about that and those I love makes me want to give back.”
— Christy Khamphilay, student, Lawrence
“I like to think about those I love and the experiences we share and what is meaningful to them, so I can give them something that brings them joy.”
— Luke Hobbs, student, Lawrence
“I like to start getting gifts early so I won’t stress out about it later. If I wait, it can make me resentful, and I lose that spirit.”
— Lauren Metzler, student, Lawrence
