Tyshawn Taylor. Good or bad, he was our point guard, and it was so much fun to watch him grow over the last few years.

Gonna need a time-travel machine to answer a question like that.

Sherron Collins. Not everyone's favorite, but I will never forget his overtime performance against K-State in Manhattan, nor his senior night speech.

Steve Woodberry! Unselfsih and clutch. Just ask OSU and KSU.

Jerod Haase. Had a crush on him in 8th grade. Still have a crush on him 15 years later.

So many great players and so little time... I would have to include Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Bridges, JoJo White, Rex Walters, Jacque Vaughn, Paul Pierce just to name a few.

Alonzo Jamison or Richard Scott carried their teams though did not get star treatment. DV, Kenny Gregory, Wayne Simien tough to choose...

Bea, I had just about gotten the taste out from that not even a flash in the pan they called Selby. He was a bigger suck than J.R. Moonbar Giddens....../grabs shirt and tugs while happy mugging/

Sounds trustworthy.

I believe you are all forgetting the unselfish play and stellar game of Josh Selby.

Wilt and Jo Jo, who WAS NOT OUT OF BOUNDS.

Manning and Gooden are the best all-around players I have seen play at KU. Not necessarily my favorites, but those two could do it all.

"Was there a player whose name was Ojoleye or something like that? Maybe in the early 80s?" Gootsie

There is a kid from Ottawa by that name that just signed with Duke. KU wasn't in the mix I don't think. Not sure why, but I shall trust the judgement of Saint Self.

Ahem. JR Giddens. Ahem.

High Gootsie! Long time, no see. Well, in this forum.

Darnell Valentine, followed by Lane Czaplinski.

1

Gootsie 1 year, 6 months ago

There is no way I can answer this. Every player on every roster played their hearts out. There are so many stars....I certainly loved watching Thomas Robinson because he overcame incredible obstacles to become a jaw-dropper (shirted or shirtless).

I knew a lot of the 1988 champions and they were amazing too. Nope. I couldn't possibly pick just one.

Richard Scott. A beast under the basket.

Cole Aldrich. Was a beast at the shot block. Good FT shooter for being an inside guy. And an all-around nice guy.

My favorite Jayhawk basketball player of all time??? Oh, wow. It would have been easier to answer the favorite from each team. Danny Manning, Mark Turgeon, Ron Kellogg, Darnell Jackson, Nick Collison, Kirk Heinrich and Thomas Robinson. Markieff and Marcus Morris.

2

The_Original_Bob 1 year, 6 months ago

"It's a toss up between Victor Mitchell or Paul Mokeski."

Damn you, Andini. Mokeski was mine.

Richard Scott is the correct answer here.

Well, we'll see how Jacque Vaughn does with the Magic this season. He could be my favorite or my not so favorite...

2

Call me Captain Obvious, but it's hard to choose just one. You could win a lot of games with the 'D' team:

Danny, Donnie, Delvy, Darnell & Darnell.

Another vote for the Big O. Maybe not the best ball handler of all time, but that's what made him fun to watch. I remember him once somehow stealing a ball at mid-court once and taking it back for a breakaway dunk. The whole place went silent as it took him about four steps to dribble from half court to the goal, then the crowd went absolutely nuts after the dunk.

1

icdedpeeple 1 year, 6 months ago

I could make a strong case for either Danny Manning or Mark Turgeon

2

LogicMan 1 year, 6 months ago

Ostertag was very entertaining, indeed.

1

Scot Pollard or Adonis Jordan. On this team though I pick Travis Releford.

14 DV. Darnell Valentine. A great player on the court and even a better, humble, man off. Thanks Darnell and Coach Norwood. You both have class that we do not see today.
