The deck on the east side of the house.

I was just wondering where I should go tonight. If I figure something out, I'll let you now when I get back.

PepperJax is good. But, since I don't manage a Subway, I'll go with El Mezcal - just like the last time this question was asked.

Of course, if out of Lawrence then Golden Corral or Red Lobster.

PennyBrite 1 year, 3 months ago

Well, El Mezcal started serving Pepsi products.....BRING BACK THE COKE PRODUCTS!!

Anywhere away from the house. Olive garden and Joe's Crab Shack are 2 of my favorites. With 8 in the house we don't get to go very often so I'm waiting for Mother's Day to roll around again.

El mezcal outside for dinner at sunset with at least 8 friends.

Today is national pancake day "Shrove Tuesday (also known as Pancake Tuesday, Pancake Day, Mardi Gras, and Fat Tuesday) is the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent" IHOP capitalizes on it by giving away a free shortstack in hopes of getting you in there to spend more money, but I'll make mine at home. It is also World Spay Day which leaves an opening for some entertaining comments, but I won't go there.

0

Loki 1 year, 3 months ago

iHop is capitalizing on Fat Tuesday a week later? That's a great marketing ploy, hope no one gave up pancakes for Lent!

0

jaycat 1 year, 3 months ago

So the free pancakes this morning was a ploy? I just thought they were raising money for Chidrens Miracle Network. My bad, guess me leaving the $10.00 tip was bad form, who knew.

Wasn't last Tues. Shrove Tuesday.? But, pancakes do sound really good. My tought about my favorite place to eat is, anywhere I don't have to cook.....

Yes it was. Wondered what the h- they were talking about above...

0

sunflower-voter 1 year, 3 months ago

The classic, iconic, delicious El Matador, of course.

0

labmonkey 1 year, 3 months ago

Used to be Mojo's in Lawrence... now you have some hippie eatery there. Outside of Lawrence... Montana Mike's (I know there is one in Lawrence, but it isn't that good). I am excited they are opening a Pizza Ranch in KC...

0

rockchalker52 1 year, 3 months ago

+1 to what sunflower-voter said. If there is is better Mexican food anywhere, I sure haven't found it.

0

Pywacket 1 year, 3 months ago

We love El Matador, too. As for whether there is any better--there was a Mexican buffet place in Olathe, on Santa Fe--right next door to Perkins, that was the most authentic, best Mex I have ever found east of Santa Fe (the city!). It was called Corona Garden. They have changed hands now and we haven't been there since that happened--just haven't had the chance. Worth checking out if you're in that area. I'm not sure what the new name is, but this should be enough info to find it. Frequently, we were the only Anglo-looking people in there and the only ones speaking English--always a good sign!

Dempsey's for eating out as they have a great place, food and beers! Curry in a Hurry for when eating take out food Tapas seems good. I have had the sample sizes (tapas) of two items and they were good. Chips and salsa are good

somedude20 1 year, 3 months ago

I am surprised that no one has made a joke(s) about eating out at the Fuzzy Taco

Olive Garden? Red Lobster? Applebee's? Pepperjax? This explains a lot about some of you.

My answer, it used to be Anglers when Jeff was there. Once he left the place started sucking hard. And now its some kind of Oh Boy Oriental Anglers. What the!!!!!????? Now it's Old Johnny's for pizza and Yoko for sushi.

0

TheStonesSuck 1 year, 3 months ago

I agree that Olive Garden and Red Lobster are abominations, but Pepperjax is awesome. Phillys are not meant to be classy, refined, or healthy... just delicious. The phillys from Pepperjax compare favorably with ones from Philadelphia, PA.

Also Yokohama is crap.

The Village Pub at the Bell Tower Mall. Big juicy cheeseburgers with bacon and mushrooms, and a huge mound of spiced potato wedges.

I AM impressed. I like to live vicariously. For instance, rather than write my own anonymous & bitter snark, I just read the obnoxious postings of others.

Apparently mustardruns and his sidekick, suckinsomestones, got hold of their daddys' laptops and are trying to outdo each other in the "look how cool I am, dissing the adults" category. We'll vote later and the winner will get a new pacifier.

0

TheStonesSuck 1 year, 3 months ago

Hurry up with my binky! Checking and rechecking the boards to see if I'm the winner is killing me. Your grammar and punctuation is atrocious!

Since you're easily impressed by overseas travel I thought you'd like to know I've also ate out in Iraq, UAE, Qatar, Tokyo, Okinawa, Guam, Germany, Romania, Mexico, Vanuatu and Ireland.

Good seafood in Guam and Japan. Great schwarmas in Qatar and UAE, decent turkish food in Iraq. Can't really remember the names of the restaurants though.

Babboy, there used to be a La Hacienda in Salina. Been a while since I've eaten there, but they were good. I believe they may be at a larger location than the one I used to frequent. The one in Salina was one of the first-started by the family of a former classmate of mine.

The Brookville Hotel (at least at the original location on Hwy 40) was a damned good place to eat-family style service-big platters of food-all you can eat.

It sounds like your practice might consist of numerous WC claims. I used to make a similar circuit myself...

Bon appetit!

like a split heart pendant, I still have the tooth stuck in my hand. Some of the Chinese places were good but some not so. Don't recall seeing a lot of cats on the is land

I wish I had bought one of those used T.C. vans that I would see from time to time

I hit just about every club and was working on all the bars there are (were) a lot of dive bars on that island. Those Hawaiian Punch drinks tore me up on more than a few occasions. Boy people be hatin on the military out there. dem "mokes" be haters (those were some big people too. they would just lay by the road all day)!

I saw Social D at some club there back in 97-98

Burrito King, mainly for the fights in the drive-thru line

First Tuesday of the month at Paradise Saloon.

Free food and $5 lap dances. I'd say that's a better deal. YMMV.

I never got the eating while being turned on by strippers thing. Don't get me wrong, a strip trip once is a blue moon can be fun but I would not want to mix it with a chicken finger or wads of meat.

0

vertigo 1 year, 3 months ago

Me neither but... to each their own.

When I lived in NC there was a strip club on I-95 that catered to truckers. It offered breakfast fare 24 hours a day. You ate on the bar where the girls danced. Classy.

Little Saigon. What the pho?

0

TheStonesSuck 1 year, 3 months ago

I like Little Saigon a lot. It isn't as good as the Vietnamese I've had in Oklahoma City (no really, many Vietnamese relocated there in the '70s), but satisfies my cravings until my next visit down south. If you want a break from the Pho, try #26...delicious.

Aladdins, excellent lentil soup, good lamb, good food and good service, skip the soggy baklava, other deserts great.

0

somedude20 1 year, 3 months ago

I like eatin in your wife's kitchen. No, I am kidding. I can't stand her either.

Can I get a liter of cola?

0

vertigo 1 year, 3 months ago

Just get a large, Farva.

0

pace 1 year, 3 months ago

Hey, take me out to Don's, for a Tbone or Bum Steer on Iowa for ribs, well maybe Cornucopia, for salad bar and crab crepes, Sunday Morning Times for yogurt pancakes, Ducks fried shrimp, Tin Pan Alley kangaroo taco, Paradise for huevos rancheros, and then we could grab an ice cream sunday at the Eldrige ice cream soda shop. Just don't take me to Carol's patio.

Tomorrow is Leap Day and the thought occurred to me, I wonder if any people get married on Feb. 29 and thus only have to remember their anniversary every four years.
