Just finished Agincourt by Bernard Cornwell. I think he is my favourite author. Love his series, actually a trilogy featuring Thomas of Hookton, a master of the longbow. I love his description of how the longbow was made and the strength and skill required by the bowman. Although severely outnumbered by the french, the english won the battle on Oct. 25, 1415? largely due to the skill of the longbowmen. the long bow was made from yew, which the english had in abundance but the french had not.
