Wrangler Jeans, overstuffed and cracked up the middle.

Hopefully something that runs good on mud because there wasn't enough snow for sleding!

I wouldn't use the word "using". We have a mutual understanding of what our relationship is. It knows that when it is no longer snowing it goes back into the garage and I go back to my other toys. My sled knows it will never be the toy I spend the majority of my time with, and it is ok with this. So "using" would be a poor choice of word.

My memories of sledding involve gravel roads, culverts and trees. And pain.
    Haven't been on a sled since '53.

Same with horses. Terrible beasts but at least they're edible.

    1. snap_pop_no_crackle (anonymous) replies

Them horses are dangerous on both ends.

Sally, my '69 Flexible Flyer met her demise 2 years ago on my luge run drive.
I had mounted a video camera on Sally and proceeded to make a sled run down my snow packed drive. 7/8 of the way down the 300' drop, 1/8 mile + luge run, I became terror-stricken at what I would estimate as my 60 mph speed. I bailed off the sled which continued across the road and up the 6' tall snow ramp I created against the barbwire fence while clearing snow. After I started breathing again, and already sore and bruised, I managed to located pieces of the sled about 100 feet or so past the ramp in the corn stubble. Sally was now twisted metal with the occasional sliver. The camera was shattered and the memory stick was so damaged it would not work.
It really would have been a great video.

I am now relegated to aluminum commercial baking sheets.
Kind of like traying behind Maggies, but bigger and tougher.

I hope this is a true story.

I took the boy sledding yesterday. He uses one of the circle type sleds. Not a whole lot of steering capabilities, but it gets going.

  10. BABBOY (anonymous) says…

Yesterday, it was my old Mercedes and it was sliding all over the place.

But, it is better than AMG which has plenty of German HP which means it cannot go out when it is wet let alone snowy.....

Nobody likes to sled. Nobody. The other sliders hurt you, sometimes very badly. First you sled because you father wants you to. Then you sled to get the girls. If you keep on sledding, you do it for scholarships, and to get the girls. Then you sled for money and the girls. Then you get to just watch the sledding, and that's fun. But nobody likes sledding. Nobody.

The next time I see a red Mercedes heading down the road I will get out of the way.

    Jessie,
    True story.

This morning as we (myself and the kids) drove my valentine (their mother) down the drive to her car at he bottom of the mountain, we all raised our hands up and yelled like one would do on a roller coaster. Pisses her off.

  19. jlzack (anonymous) says…

We took 2 waterski's and built a platform on top with a rope on front &handles on each side to allow turning & slowing down.... worked like a charm........
