I suppose this forum is a way for you to not be lonely. Please do yourself a favor and put a sock in it. Ergo, shut up. No more attention from me.

Was going to offer you a song....not worth the time. Fare well.

"Rara_Avis: The new episodes started getting lame when that Amy somebody from "The Wire" started playing the HR gal."

Does anyone know what people that work in "H.R" or "P.D" actually do for their paycheck? Other than, a once a year meeting for benefits, trolling peoples "clock in" times, an occasional sexual harassment briefing every other year, and "writing people up" because they were asked to? Sounds like a really tough job....for a parasite.

cait48 makes sense to me.l otherwise .. this looks like the usual "can't find a board of our own" group of lj trolls, enjoying a coffee and a keyboard amongst themselves.

If so much keyboarding were put to writing their Congress and Senate/House, much ado might actually be made into action, instead of lj silliness.

PS.. how many of you have judged me for a simple photo stunt in my backyard for a statement about mind-altering substances? EH>

Did somebody point that fickle finger of fate Gandalf's way? Press the button on him, did they? The last I saw was a day or two ago, he was talkin' smack with some troll that had him all wound up.
Really, I don't know anymore. New sheriff, different posse, disappearededings, reincarnaterings, hypertransformable smegmatisisms. It's all a bit unsetttling. I don't know if Ms. Crump is mostly to blame. Aunt Bee's fingerprints are all over this.

Boardwalk Empire. Best show on right now. Prohibition-era America is a fascinating time in history, even in fiction.

Oh, and Maury Povich -- I just need to know if he is or isn't the father.

Indyan has been bugging the bee-Jesus out of me out of me for the last couple years for a little brother. Well, today was perfect, we went to the river and got him a whole bucket full of "little siblings". Some of them weren't sure whether they were brothers or sisters. He's sorting them out as we speak. Time and surgery will tell for sure. Aut, was that you we saw killing little white balls? I'd love to join you sometime. What a beautiful day.

I have to hand in my feminista card for this but.... I watched "Pan Am" last Sunday and fell in love with it. My mom worked for TWA in the early '60's as a keypunch operator in their crude and budding computer department, about the same time as the show is set. I was in my first years of junior high. We flew a lot for free. (One time we took a red eye to LA, spent the night in a motel, took a commuter helicopter to Anaheim the next morning and spent the day in Disneyland and flew home that night.) The stewardesses were like "heroes" to my little girl self; smart, beautiful, glamorous and educated. At the time, TWA's stewardess academy was on 63rd street in Mission, just east of Metcalf . One time my mom got me in to tour it. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. So yeah. The show brings back a ton of good memories. We'll see how is shapes up as it goes along.

I was forced to live in La Brea in the dirty city of Smell-A for 2 years. The list of "celebrities" I used to see at the grocery store and the cheesey nightclubs I went to would fill this page. Bo-ring. Now, letting Jim Nabors rub aloe on your shoulders? Priceless.

0

scopi_guy 2 years, 6 months ago

I caught the first episode of Pan Am. It held my interest, will watch the next few episodes to see if I'll keep watching. The detail paid to having everything look like it was really from 1963 was pretty impressive. Very believable (unlike Dirty Dancing and the last few years of Happy Days when they just stopped trying).

Nice to see that David Spade likes "Community". Hey, did you know that Paul Rudd is from KC. Not Lawrence, but close enough. Did you know that Dennis Hopper, Joe Walsh, Dee Wallace Stone, and Kirstie Alley are from KS? Not Lawrence but it's still cool. Did you know that Hugh Beaumont Ward Cleaver is from Lawrence? Did you know that Matt Dillon and Andrew McCarthy made a zero-star movie in Lawrence? Did you know that "The Day After" was filmed in Lawrence? Did you know that Clyde Barrow never robbed a bank in Lawrence? Now, that's cool!

Also in the '80's Larry Flynt, founder/publisher of Hustler magazine, featured a cartoon portraying Jerry Falwell losing his virginity to a relative. In a landmark free speech case, Jerry sued Larry. Jerry lost. Them some wingnut Jerry lover with a sniper rifle paralyzed Larry for life. Really brave and Christian thing to do.

"In the 1980s Jerry Falwell was critical of sanctions against the apartheid regime of South Africa. He claimed that sanctions would result in what, he felt, would be a worse situation, such as a Soviet-backed revolution. He drew the ire of many when he called Nobel Peace Prize winner and Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu a phony "as far as representing the black people of South Africa."

Glee, The Gilmore Girls, Will & Grace, anything on the We channel or the Oxygen channel. I like to camp on the couch in a big fluffy robe, with lots of chocolates and watch these shows for hours. The wife is starting to worry.

I watch everything ever recorded by the late great Reverend Dr Jerry Falwell. May 15, 2007 was a sad sad day for America and the whole world. We lost an inspiring leader of men. I have a complete library of his life guiding sermons. It's time to start preparing for my annual Christmas journey to Thomas Road. Next to Jesus, Dr. Falwell is my life coach. He will live forever in the hearts of all good men.

Even news isn't news. This whole stupid Michael Jackson death trail is just Elvis: Part II. Same pathetic circumstances, except Dr. Nick wasn't at Graceland when Elvis fell off the throne and died ass-up with his pj's around his ankles. They tried to crucify Nick, but no-go. That should set a precedent. These guys are paid well to break the law and that's what they do. Can I get a lawyer's opinion on this?

As broke as I am, I would gladly buy Sean Penn a one-way ticket to Cuba, on the condition that the plane is low on gas with a loose wing.

0

right now I'm watching the live video of the guys hanging of the Washington Monument.

Shows that I've watched this season so far: New Girl, 2 1/2 Men, 2 Broke Girls, Project Runway and I'm pissed that Mad Men isn't coming back until spring. Top Chef comes back in November. I watched Pan Am but I wasn't that excited about it...yet. I'm also a fan of a lot of TLC, HGTV and FoodTV things.

Alec Baldwin is great actor and funny as all hell, but I can't stand "30 Rock". And I refuse to watch SNL unless he's hosting. He hosted last weekend and I was in tears. Not just because of him, but I confirmed my suspicion that Radiohead is one of the rankest, most awful things to happen to music in a long time. I've seen better crap on the Turnpike.
