Recorder when I was very young, but after that my schools were too small to offer any opportunity until high school, and by then I thought it was too late to start. I wish I had learned to play something.

Had one. Tapes didn't fit right in it ... had to insert the tape, then put a rubber band around the part that stuck out, and down around the front feet of the tape deck, to hold it in the right position or it would randomly change tracks.

No, in high school, they were looking for members for band and chorus and gave musical apptitude tests and I failed. The only test I ever failed in my life.

In fourth grade I took cello and violin lessons until the teacher gave a few of us the"opportunity" to go back to our regular classroom. I also passed on typing class. I should have had my butt kicked several times for that.

In high school I used an electrophoresis instrument, but I did date a large proportion of the flute section of band.
I guess it was a strange fixation.

Not in school but my parents did make me take music lessons. Can't tell you which instrument, still traumatized and can't bear to talk about it. Let's just say it wasn't the usual type of musical instrument parents pick.

My parents adored Lawrence Welk . . . . therefore my older sister was encouraged to take accordion . . . I remember telling her it sounded like she was crushing cats in it . . .
