All of the OTS least favorites are my favorites, go figure. Seriously though, how does someone not like philosophy?

There weren't any specific subjects I didn't like, if I didn't like the class it was because of the instructor or curricula. Though there were subjects I was more talented in, like English and art, so I enjoyed them more than others that didn't come naturally, like math.

I hated history as well. Far too short on the Welsh coal miners role in Colonial America.

Hollis - Nanny Duver asked me if I ever played football. "No sir" I said. "You will here" he said. "I don't think so",I said. "You'll wish you did" he said. I did.

I learned a snazzie new song on the way home today. This is completely sick!! I love the production. I think it's new, anyway. I don't bother staying current anymore. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1u6M_p5KAQ

You didn't get the full gym class experience unless you had Nanny Duver. I totally worshipped that guy. And I was no jock. I just tried really hard. I didn't like the look of the paddles hanging in his office.

Well, when I was in Art Sloan's sophomore English class at LHS I had a pretty good time. His classrooom was on the second floor. The back row was the place to be. The stoner on one side of me just sat there rolling joints for an hour. The guy on the other side was funny, too. When the weather was warm and the windows were open we would toss dictionaries out the window, 2 or 4 of them every class. Mr. Sloan had this funny thing he'd recite every Friday, kind of a weekend warning. It went something like this: If you drink, don't drive If you drive, don't drink If you smoke, don't toke If you chew, don't swallow If you snort, don't sneeze If you mainline, don't miss Have a good weekend!

Anybody remember that?

I think spacehog might have been in my algebra class in ninth grade. Did anybody ever throw all the erasers out the window during nice weather? Kudos to whoever can hit the street.

prospector, So true. Plus it was like having a permanent hall pass so you could acquire those bowl/resin tubes from the band room.

Ronaldo, we need to go into business. I recently made a bong out of an empty mouthwash bottle. I can pretty much make one out of anything. It's one of those "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" talents that I have. That and the fact that no place in this town sells acrylic anymore, just the really expensive glass "tobacco accessories".

I had a class called the Evolution of Don't Ask Don't Tell. I didn't learn anything because the Westboro Baptist freaks kept throwing rocks and molotov cocktails through the windows.

"Alls you have to do, Irregardless, I could care less." They need a class to correct that stupidity. I was a Journalism major. Yep, BSJ, heavy on the BS. My diploma is in the original cardboard mailing envelope at the bottom of a box in the garage somewhere. I wanted to major in Broadcast Management but somehow got railroaded into sales. It's been about as usefull as a degree in used car sales.

Pywacket, prospector, In JH seventh grade,we got a grade period each of shop/home ec/art. In home ec I was introduced to the student teacher Ms. Tippie. I told her I had a neighbor that had a dog named Tippie who would just run around in circles and bark constantly. I asked her if she barked. Since I had already taken the shop portion once, I was ended up kind of sorta doing an independent study shop rather than the home ec. It was cool. I basically made and sold bongs for 12 weeks.

Pywacket

In JH seventh grade,we got a grade period each of shop/home ec/music/art. I put two tablespoons not teaspoons of baking soda in a batch of, I kid you not, peanut butter cookies. They grew and rolled like giant fourth of July snakes.

I have always thought that a recipe is no different than an experiment in chem lab. This came after the seventh grade for me.

Jr High home economics. Back then, the girls HAD to take Home Ec while the boys got to use power tools in Woodshop. Glad that's changed! My Home Ec teacher "taught" us how to make pies by opening cans of cherry filling, dumping them into pre-fab "pie shells" and setting the timer on the ovens. Everything else she knew how to make used industrial peanut butter (you don't wanna know) out of giant vats.

I had to learn to be a good cook later, just to cope with the memories of that useless class. Oh, we also made frilly little aprons in sewing. Not sexy French maid ones, mind you, but dowdy farmhouse wife ones with gingham prints. And lace. Sigh....

Latin, Trig, and Chemistry sustained me.

About 15 years ago my kids and I were target shooting down on the sand bar using the bank for a back stop. A small flock of geese flew over so we stopped to watch them. Amazingly, they landed on the sand island about 60 yards from us. While we were enjoying this natural scene of geese feeding and resting so close to us a group of canoes and kayaks came by. One of the group, spotting a goose swimming upstream with its head under the surface feeding, yelled "Whatsa matter with that DUCK?". Another said,"That S.O.B. probably shot it!!" They all rapidly paddled over to "rescue" the "injured" "duck", scaring them all into flight including the one they thought injured. I yelled over to them, "Miraculous recovery, huh!!" . .

I never understood why some people hate cops and hate guns, but demand the government enforce “peaceful” “utopian” agendas … when the government enforces those agendas with cops! Who have guns!

Wouldn't be an issue if there weren't so many damn cousins.....

Everyone of them. Never could tolerate sitting in class.

I was schooled by penguins, who would whack me with a board for falling asleep during lunch time mass taught in Latin.

Anybody else remember Mr Burger at Central? Never had to do homework, just wait until when assignment due then copy from the board as he worked out each problem we said we had trouble with. Almost always got him to do enough of them to get a decent grade. He and my dad fished together for years after they both retired. Rest in peace Elvis . . .

Any class that had group projects. I don't play well with others.

And my senior seminar where I discovered that many history majors at KU that were about to graduate didn't know how to site sources at all and thought that filling half of their paper with pictures of tanks was actually writing.

And that math class in high school where the teacher said "allSSSS you gotta do is..." every other sentence. Made me cringe every time.

I have been encouraged to go back and finish. Now what good would it do for a 63 year old coot to have a 6th grade diploma? Would I still get picked last at recess?

I had some pervey sex ed class with Dennis Daley at KU. I was pretty excited about it but he really didn't show any dirty movies. He was one of those "Carol & Bob & Ted & Alice" 70's swinger types.

First.Grade. It all went down hill from there.
