Would you be opposed to buying violent toys (such as action figures, soldiers, guns, etc.)?

“Personally, I would (buy them). I think each child is different and if a parent explains what’s real and what’s fantasy — it just depends on the maturity of the child.”
— Lauren James, bookkeeper, Eudora
“I wouldn’t buy toys like that. It is hard — where do you draw the line? But when they see something get hurt over and over again, it means less — they don’t understand consequences of violence.”
— Leanna Riley, daycare owner, Lawrence
“We made sure our kids had nothing to do with guns. But toys really aren’t violent, video games are.”
— Gerard Gruber, customer service worker, Lawrence
“No. Kids’ll be kids. They’ll make it up even if you try to keep it away from them.”
— Frank Male, landscape manager, Lawrence
