"Rode" by Tom Averill, very nice. Good characters, nice sense of geography. Averill used the song "Tennessee Stud" as inspiration.

I always keep a non-fiction and a fiction work going simultaneously, as well as something light like a mystery and journals for professional growth....and always cookbooks and hobby stuff (sewing, crafts, gardening, decorating). The current non-fiction is "One Drop: My Father's Hidden Life-A Story of Race and Family Secrets" by Bliss Broyard....a wonderful family memoir, reflection on the growth of identity and an amazing history of race in America as it impacts this family moving thru time. Her father was a well-known art critic who passed for white and kept his black identity a secret even on his deathbed. Fascinating and highly recommended. The fiction is "The Space Between Us" by Thrity Umrigar about the friendship between 2 women in Bombay , one who lives a life of privilege and the other a life in the underclass as the wealthy, educated woman's servant.
