Well, hell, tie me to a fence post and give me a tabasco sauce enema, feels almost like Ostern!

Too much Bob Dylan on the other side, although the dude that plays it is supercool. Also, short sell.

This action is an abomination before God, and an affront to man.

In memory of a true OTS champion. A fine man and a truer gentlemen than you will ever know. To biscuit lovers and Yorkie hater everywhere. Judy's gain is all of ours loss.

A travesty has been committed. This...is the end of the OTS as you know it. Kind of like in Apocolypse Now when the Doors song was playing and Martin Sheen was hacking up Marlon Brando...adios y viya con dios amigos.

Darn, I missed the fun. What did TOB do to rankle Melissa's feathers?

0

autie 3 years, 5 months ago

Hey, does this mean he is with Marion now? Spacehog? JackFrost? Can we bring ghost hunters in on the case now?

TOB has joined OMB (of blessed memory) in the great beyond.

Funny. It still lets me post. Well, it will be fun on the otherside hanging with One_More_Bob, Spacehog, Jack Frost, and HWCNBN. I bet that is quite the party.

Autie - Are you educated or something.

And, yes, Whitney, nothing personal from me either. It is just a commenting section. Just lighten up on the banned comments. We had a nice online community here and it seems to have been gutted.

The_Original_Bob 3 years, 5 months ago

"Hi TOB,Still not quite sure what your issue with me is, considering Kealing has been the one removing most of your comments. But anything he's removing is crossing the line into defamatory content, so try to tone it down a bit. Like I've said before, now that we have more eyes to watch comment threads, more posts that violate TOS will be yanked from the site. So it's nothing personal. We just have more resources. That said, I definitely don't want to ban you, but this is the second time I've tried reaching out to see what the deal is. I'd appreciate it if you can explain to me how you feel the OTS has changed other than the fact that we pay more attention to it now. If I don't hear back from you and you continue to violate OTS, I'm going to have to ban your account. Whitney"

Who have I ever defamed on here? I don't think I have any issues with anyone on this site. I get along with most everybody. Seems like I am in her crosshairs now. Bonus points for threatening to ban me if I don't respond to her email and keep doing what I've been doing for seven years. Typical message board moderator that enjoys her power too much.

I would concur with the insightful analysis promulagted by our esteemed colleague perched a top a stool in the six hundred block of Mass. When such jovial and good natured postulation brought for by the advocates of mental mayhem are curtailed and stifled to silence we can be assured that no correct nature of discourse could substitute. Then the intent and purpose of the TOS has only served to subdue it's own master.

The creeping of the PC attitude on innocuous statements looking like censorship on LJW's part is the problem. There is nothing bawdier or more risque than what Stewart, Letterman, etc. say nightly that regularly gets dumped here.

I would have thought LJW etal would be free speech advocates. Silly me.

Heck if it is not obscene and will not get the paper in trouble(has a paper ever got in trouble for a post on their site?), why do you care? Whose eyeballs are you protecting? If you demand G rated/ can I say it to Gramma or in church posts, look at those demographics and it's popularity. You don't want to go there if you want to survive.

Ohhh, I get the lawyer comments. It took me a while. But, the first poster was law student..

Only thing worst then lawyers are law students. You see, lawyers at some point figure out that everyone hates them. But, law students (and some stupid new lawyers) actually think being lawyer is something to brag about and usually in the first sentence after meeting someone for the first time they manage to work into the conversation that are law student and then of course they always have some incorrect opinion on some obscure meaningless law or legal situation.

My advice to law students is take some chemistry classes and go to Med School.

Of course, as greedy as some doctors are getting, they are not that far behind lawyers on the lack of popularity poll.

"...she is going to ban me for posting the exact same posts as I have been doing for six or seven years..." In that case, merrill is toast.

Hang in there T_O_B, we need you. Don't let them win. If you leave, I'll have no reason to visit here and check out your humor.

"there ain't no point to that story other than stay off the slipper slide unless you got good pants on."

Piss off, old man. I was injured during the process of fathering.

I have a feeling my time here on the OTS is coming to an end. Remember the good times, friends. This used to be a fun place until Whitney Matthews took over. Long live JK!!! Fight the Power!!! Eat Biscuits!!! And, remember, never look a purple headed yogurt slinger in the eye.

0

autie 3 years, 5 months ago

Good thing I wasn't walkabout today...this could get better before it sours. For those of you with a compass, it could almost be time to go south. Did I ever tell you about the time when I was a little younger and tried to impress my daughter with my abilities? I did a double cartwheel and a round off...stuck the landing and she stood there and just giggled and laughed..and wife was howling...I then noticed my jeans and ripped from stem to stern and there I was standing in the middle of the park with my trunk open......there ain't no point to that story other than stay off the slipper slide unless you got good pants on.

Personal hell aside, I am guessing that James Dean and Wally Cleaver's love child likes to putt-putt, especially the tactile sensation of the putter smacking the balls, and the chick doesn't like putt-putt, cause the putter is dirty.

0

HollisBrown 3 years, 5 months ago

wmathews (Whitney Mathews) replies… "Champing at the bit" is the original form and is the correct phrase according to the Associated Press Stylebook.

Well, la dee da. Is that from the 1932 edition? Do the LJW reporters still wear Press cards in their hats? What a bunch of squares.

Lawyers are definitely at the bottom of the barrel. I'm speaking from experience. Some advice from my old man: Never trust Lawyers, Bankers, and Accountants. Mr. First is evidently already having trouble sleeping. Wait till it gets really bad. Keep on being First.

He's waitin' for the time when the last shall be first and the first shall be last In a cardboard box 'neath the underpass With a one way ticket to the promised land With a hole in your belly and a gun in your hand Lookin' for a pillow of solid rock Bathin' in the cities' aqueducts

I stole the ball washer, too. I still use it daily. I'm really champing at the bit for a new putt-putt. Champing at the bit.

The_Original_Bob 3 years, 5 months ago

And lawyers are horrible, horrible people.

0

The_Original_Bob 3 years, 5 months ago

Whitney Matthews has destroyed this place. It is official. If JK was still alive, so would the OTS. Unbelievable how far the OTS has fallen since she took over.

0

HollisBrown 3 years, 5 months ago

I would if we had one. I remember the one on 23rd St. in the 70's. I wouldn't go near that creepy batting cage. Every time I hear "Let Your Love Flow" by the Bellamy Brothers I think of that place. Then they built one at 31st and Iowa. It was cool for drink n' putt and study breaks during finals. They need to build a new one with a go-cart track. That would kick ass.

Actually, I think that I still have a free game card from the old Log Cabin Putt Putt in Topeka by the zoo that which my grandfather helped me win on the final hole in one shot.

Putt-putt had a different meaning when I was in Jr. High, and yes I did like to play.

Took the little woman on our first date to play putt-putt on 23rd street in July '69. Yup, old Roe was a romantic even then. She won of course. Haven't challenged her since. Haven't played putt-putt since either . . .

Small problem -- no permanent course here in town anymore at which to putt-putt away.

0

Benjamin Roberts 3 years, 5 months ago

Bless her heart, Grandma used to putt-putt all the way down the hall.

0

autie 3 years, 5 months ago

Maybe. Is it a violation of the TOS? "playin putt putt" sounds like a pretty charged term. Momma say golf clubs is the debil. Asides,at the Sermon of Alvamar, Jesus turned all the putters into fly rods.......
