“Yes, I study from 9 to 5.”
“No, it depends on when I’m teaching. Sometimes I grade papers at night, sometimes I read on the weekends, and sometimes I take off at 2 o’clock and come to Lawrence to go shopping.”
“I was self-employed before. This is better, no weekends.”
“No I don’t, I work 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. I might get a transfer to days soon, hopefully.”

Work 50-odd hours a week at my primary (government) job.
Work another 20-odd hours/week at my second (private industry) job.
And for all the libeRtarian government haters out there; guess which one of those I have time to post on the LJWorld blogs? It ain't the one your tax dollars are paying for; I'm too busy there. But yeah, private industry is 100% efficient....

I work 20 hours a day seven days a week. I'm going nowhere. I don't get to retire or die. My punishment is eternal life on this earth, so I have to work (I work just to get out of bed in the morning). I don't get paid. My life isn't worth spit in this town. I spend too much time trying to do all the right things and not enough time being a scheming louse (I can download porn all day if the government would hire me!). Give me a government job. I can eat tasty Tostito chips at my computer all the live long day and tell everybody else who tries it that the rules don't allow it, and kick 'em out! S*** like that.

I used to commute to KC and work 8 to 7 or more and then drive home. Now I ride my bike to a job where they tell me "It's 5:00, go home". Life is better.

Wish it was 9-5 then I wouldn't have to negotiate getting to work by 8 since my child's school doesn't begin until 8:45 and can't drop him off before 8:30. It stinks! I'm sure there are a lot of parents who agree with me.

However, I still feel that workdays should be reduced to 6 hours workdays so people can get home to spend more quality with their families. I think people would be less stressed, kinder and kids were be better off.
