Went to Eudora the other day.....
ended up in St. Louis at the IHOP.....
    Ummmm, pancakes, ummm......

  4. The_Original_Bob (anonymous) says…

Used to head off west for a few weeks at a time in the Spring. Now, not so much.

  5. autie (anonymous) says…

More than I want to think about...some good and desired, some not so much. As comrade says, I hate weddings. As captain Sig says, "Shut up and fish".
trip to the airport to pick up or drop: hate
    anything about fishing: good
    wedding: hate
    liquor store: good

Took one to Austin with the new dog, who spent the first hour wagging his tail and anxiously awaiting the "park" we must be going to, and spent the next 9 hours giving me looks that clearly said: "Seriously, this had better be one Hell of a park we're going to."

All things told, we all enjoyed ourselves, but by the time we we're past Wichita on the way back it was time to be home.

Still, I'd take 10 hours in a car to Austin than 22 hours in a plane to Beijing anyday. blech.

    Bob Dylan Groupie -

Yeah, I don't know where I got that. It annoys me as well, but it has been a language issue of mine long before Borat. I made it almost halfway through Borat before I turned it off and used the dvd as toilet paper.

  8. prospector (anonymous) says…

Yes. When half of the growlers are empty, I turn around.

  9. The_Original_Bob (anonymous) says…

Looks like we'll be making up for a calm spring this week.

  10. autie (anonymous) says…

Looks like I'm in the middle of the bulls eye today. I'm keeping an eye out for Mike Bettis and the Vortex2 group....they should be within a fifty mile radius of me today.

  11. RETICENT_IRREVERENT (Ronaldo Ignacio) says…

    Nope,
See how content your life is when you try to cram 2 adults, 3 semi-adults, and 2 dogs in one of Al Gore's prii.

Speaking of Al Gore, is he staying silent about the 12 year imprisonment of two of his employees in North Korea?

  12. RETICENT_IRREVERENT (Ronaldo Ignacio) says…

Which is worse, very large hail or high speed damaging hail?

  13. snap_pop_no_crackle (anonymous) says…

Hailstones the size of canned hams are the worst.

  14. The_Original_Bob (anonymous) says…

"Which is worse, very large hail or high speed damaging hail?"

Once your in either situation, it is best to just hunker down and figure out where the burn pile needs to be.

Road trips are fun....sometimes. I've taken several with college friends that were amazing. Some with the family weren't nearly as fun though. This summer I'm going out west for a wedding. Taking a couple extra days for sight seeing though so it should work out just fine.

  16. charliejohnson (anonymous) says…

R-I ...wondering the same thing??? We need to get in there and get those two girls out.. It makes me sick to think of them being ther 5 more minutes.
autie ..wedding ..you can't do anthing about it so don't worry...be happy.
I just need a road trip.

  17. sgtwolverine (anonymous) says…

I took one to Kansas once. It was CRAZY.

  18. Gootsie (anonymous) says…

I think JoCo is in for hail the size of Klondike bars. OUCH!

Road trips other than to family? Yep - once to Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and home; another to Tempe for Insight bowl via OK, NM, AZ, and back including TX. It was a blast!

  19. RETICENT_IRREVERENT (Ronaldo Ignacio) says…

    charlie,
    H. Ross Perot went to Iran in '79 to see his two employees, then directed a private rescue mission to get them out.

For three months, Al Gore's two employees have been held in North Korea, and now are sentenced.
    What has Gore done?
    Nothing.
    Gore wanted to be President?
Gore wants to save the Earth?

Someone needs to shout "Perdicaris alive
or Raisuli dead", but I know it will not come from Gore's lips.

  20. snap_pop_no_crackle (anonymous) says…

Good one, R_I, a trifle on the obscure side, but good.

  21. RETICENT_IRREVERENT (Ronaldo Ignacio) says…

    snap,
    Well you know...

    Our people like courage.

  22. autie (anonymous) says…

Road trips might be in peril in the near future. I see where the Slim Jim factory in North Carolina blew up today. Kind of hard to get very far on just twizzlers.

  23. RETICENT_IRREVERENT (Ronaldo Ignacio) says…

And Hillary Clinton is no John Hay.

  24. autie (anonymous) says…

Does John Hay know Harold Ensley? I think they might be about the same age.

  25. kmat (anonymous) says…

Hey RI - If you would bother to check the news you would know that Gore is probably heading to Asia to try to get these girls released. He has to have clearance from the State Dept (they were in talks about this last week). Even your beloved Faux News has reported this. Considering that the US has no official relations with N. Korea and Gore can't just go walk in and negotiate, this is all being handled behind the scenes. You just love having any little reason to try to slam Gore.

Man, I made a really bad decision this morning when I looked at the clouds, decided to chance it, and rode my scooter to school.

MultiD: Since I'm trapped here at school, ask and you shall receive. I like what the perspective on the first one does to his already enormous ears.

    R_I's beloved faux news.

    chuckle

  28. The_Original_Bob (anonymous) says…

"Does John Hay know Harold Ensley? "

    Isn't Harold pushing up daisies?

    "R_I's beloved faux news."

Good lord. Yep, you really know RI.

  29. snap_pop_no_crackle (anonymous) says…

Al will have his private jet fly around & around over North Korea until the exhaust fumes block out the sun. Then, under cover of darkness, he'll release the ninjas.

  30. BABBOY (anonymous) says…

No. I drive enough at work.

But, I am flying somewhere, maybe to New York to see if I can find a ticket to see the Open on Sunday.

  31. passionatelibra (anonymous) says…

I love road trips. I've gone from Oregon to Alaska. Fairbanks to Anchorage numerous times. Fairbanks to Washington to New Orleans to Mississippi to Oregon back to Alaska. Alaska to Canada to Haines to Washington to Kansas. Kansas to Oregon and then back to Kansas. There were many little ones in between but those were my most memorable ones.

Yep, I love road trips, I just can't afford them any more :o\

  32. kmat (anonymous) says…

Sorry, sorry - mixed up RI with some of our rightie posters.

But still, slamming Gore over this. And the info is all over the news and the web.

  33. autie (anonymous) says…

kmat, would that be a case when two rights still make a wrong?

  34. prospector (anonymous) says…

If I had one of these, would "road trip" still describe it?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3MqQV...

passionatelibra, here is what you need to get back to Alaska though I seem to recall you are not in a hurry to do so.

If you commuted to Topeka, you could run the Kaw and save turnpike tolls.

  35. autie (anonymous) says…

I did something like that in my Ford Ranger one day..except it didn't have that amphibious capability....something about ice cold water and red hot cylinders that don't mix well.

  36. passionatelibra (anonymous) says…

I wouldn't take one of those in the ocean, it looks like it's the perfect size to be a whales beach ball. I can see them tossing it between one another laughing because of the screams coming from the inside of it. Reminds me of a cat toy I have...

I would love to be able to drive home in a Jeep Wrangler though! My Dad would be snagging it to take to the cabin on a consistent basis.

  37. hujiko (anonymous) says…

just got back from driving through the oklahoma panhandle into new mexico and back through colorado. beautiful country no doubt

  38. Dejacrew423 (anonymous) says…

I love taking road trips!! We even travel to other parts of Kansas to see their roadside attractions and landscape. I'm an off the beaten path kind of girl.
