“I think you should be able to resell the tickets at face value, but not buy and sell tickets for a profit.”

“Yes, I do, because people have extra tickets and are just trying to make some money.”

“It should not be legal because sometimes they rip you off with inflated prices.”

“No, because scalpers can put their own rules on the game … and cheat people out of good money.”

Well, I won't buy from them. . . . Prediction for the game. We're down in the first htalf on a poor start, but come together for the win in the end. Good games by Collins and Reed, poor day for Taylor, M.K. Morris and Aldrich have modestly good performances. 90-76.That's what happened on my season on the PS3, with OSU last night.

Hmm... sporting events as religion, an arena the church... society worshipping itself... a sea of spectators given to the occasional wave and splash.

I got tossed out of TPAC for selling excess group tickets a few years ago. They were something like $10 on the face value; I'd paid $7 and offered them for $5. The guy that made me go across the street said I would make the ticket booth employees feel bad if they didn't have anyone to sell to.The problem is the rush made on tickets by those intending ot profit by reselling them - like on e-bay. That ought to be illegal.Somebody with a couple of extra tickets in had who wants to try to recover the outrageous prices charged to see, for example a Jayhawk BB game, should be free to sell them for their fair value only - no jacked up prices because the venue is full.

It's a little hypocritical given Lew Perkins' blood sucking policies to suddenly decide that scalping is a bad thing. His entire approach to sports is nothing but scalping, from bleeding season ticket holders, to putting the games on premium channels where the fans can't watch the games.Stuff it Lew, these guys aren't any worse than you are.

Scalpers prey on people who want to go to a game, can afford to go to a game, but have no legal means of doing it cause it's sold out.Having cops hang around outside events looking for people who are reselling their tickets for face value just brings bad publicity to the University. If the athletic department were smart, they'd set up a booth just outside the field house where people who have additional tickets can drop them off for resell. That would take care of both problems.

Also, arresting fans who try to assist other fans attend a game, not by scalping but by selling at face value, sends an anti-fan message. That KU only wants a privileged few to attend games at Allen Field House, and that they are unwilling to assist those privileged few during hard economic times. Not a message that should be sent with this economy...

Also, sends the message that the University is stupid.Person A sells Person B His/her extra ticket(s) before entering field house. Person A now has an additional spending money to spend on concessions...

In a capitalist society, ticket brokering should not only be allowed, but encouraged. Lew and the KUAC oversells the field house anyway--their convoluted student ticket policy makes it possible to sell several hundred, maybe a few thousand seats, twice. (Once to students, and if they fail to pick up their tickets in a timely manner, that seat is resold to the public.) (I think there was a game or two last year when the KUAC was "caught" overselling the field house and had to turn legit ticket holders away.)I'm surprised at the number of communist responses on this thread. Liberty_One is about the only commentor that "gets it." To the rest of you, Comrade Bush has been relieved of his rule, and it's time Amerika turned away from the communist mindset of the past 8 years.

Wow, there's this crazy sort of computer animated Judas Priest video on Headbangers Ball right now, with demons, devils, skeleton lords, this guy with a creepy ventilator face, and tanks and airships and stuff.

War off of Nostradamus, apparently. In the end, Satan triumphed over a priveivel creature that was rather Cthuloid in nature with a vengeful sword thrust. He then freed some buxom babes that I forgot to mention, and rode off while Death grinned somewhat skeletally on.
