What was your best artistic masterpiece from grade school?
Asked at Lawrence High School on December 14, 2009
“It was a ‘Peace Around the World’ poster for art class. I won second place.”
“I made a purple clay bowl.”
“I did this macaroni art thing where you build a picture — it was tight.”
“I made a colored chalk picture of Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night.’”
“A napkin holder made out of popsicle sticks.”
“A heart with a face and thorns. I drew it with a pencil.”

My clay handprint from Kindergarten. It still hangs on the wall in the foyer of the old family house.
