Did you have a crush on any TV characters growing up?
Asked at Massachusetts Street on August 24, 2009
“Major Astro, a local variety show host in Wichita. I wondered if astronauts were the real thing.”
“Hulk Hogan. I had a toy of him.”
“Barbara Eden, of ‘I Dream of Jeannie,’ but only when she played her evil twin sister.”
“Opie of Mayberry. He seemed so natural and had a good sense of humor and a little bit of mischief.”

In 1957 when I was 4 years old we got our first TV. It had a round 12" screen and was encased in a metal box the size of a small refrigerator. One of the programs on was Rin Tin Tin. I fell HARD for the kid who played Rusty (Lee Aaker http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0007342/bio). About the same time I got a crush on Liberace (ha!) who also had a TV show. Must have been all that bling.

Barbara Feldon of "Get Smart"; Tina Cole, (played Katie Douglas, Robbie's wife on "My Three Sons"); Lori Saunders, the dark-haired brunette daughter in "Petticoat Junction".

Davey Crocket was my hero. Mother even got me the record to the theme song. Still have it 78rpm. Then it was Luke on the Rifleman and by the 5th grade I was in love with Michacl Landon.

Bobby Sherman, the Monkey's and Kurt Russell
cait48 3 years, 9 months ago
oooo yeah Puzzler. Bobby Sherman was a Jr. High TV crush. Do you remember Paul Revere and the Raiders? I was soooo crushed on Mark Lindsay from that band when I was in 7th grade. Would rush home everyday after school to watch them on some teen dance show that was on, can't remember the name of it.

just a sidenote, after reviewing everyone else's answers, i must comment on how much i LOVE the obvious average age of the posters on here! i'm 41 and most of y'all seem to be a little older than me-- i am so used to being the old woman on every messageboard or social networking site i belong to. i love being around folks my age and older-- in person and in cyberspace. :D
Mel Briscoe 3 years, 9 months ago
donnuts, i think you and i were probably in elementary school at the same time. all your references are those of a little kid in the 70s. great times, huh? :)

Barbara "Ward, you've been awfully hard on the Beaver lately" Billingsley and Cheryl Ladd

The Professor on Gilligan's Island and, when I was a few years older, Dano on Hawaii 5-O. He was so cute--and not a cocky know-it-all like McGarrett.
hillbilly jim~ I think you're reading way too much (or the wrong things) into Mr. Walker's response. Lots of little kids have innocent same-sex crushes. How many little girls have crushes on their pretty kindergarten teachers? There's nothing creepy about it--mostly, they want to be like the person they have a crush on and look up to.
On the other hand, if Mr. Walker happens to be gay and had a romantic-type crush on Major Astro, there's still nothing creepy about it--just a sweet, little-boy crush on his hero. Elevate your mind a little.

Roads_Collar, Ellen Foley in "Night Court" better crush material than Markie Post any day. Sang with the Meatloaf, The Clash, and as a solo artist. The Clash's song "Should I Stay or Should I Go" is a song about Foley and Jones's relationship. I had a roomate with a TV when she was on "Night Court", and I have 2 or 3 of her solo albums.

How about Donna Douglas from the Beverly Hillbillys? She was dense, but wore a tight tied up shirt. And when ever that character stumpy got into Mr. Driesdales' secetary pool, that was some good TV wacthing. A Man has to have a little Hope, Charity and Faith, Jeb. Meet Hope, Faith and Charity!
