How much of your produce do you buy from local growers?
Asked at Downtown Lawrence Farmer’s Market on June 18, 2008
“Maybe half right now. We buy a lot of it at the Merc and some here. Of course it's a lot easier to buy locally this time of year.”
— Michael Dunlap, teacher, Lawrence
“I'd say maybe 25 percent. I like to buy locally as much as possible, but I am a college student, so I have to make sure that I can afford to feed myself in general.”
— Beth Ruhl, Kansas University junior, Lawrence
“Maybe 10 percent throughout the year, but that increases as different types of produce come into season. I only live about a block away, so it's really convenient.”
— Keith Rogers, retired, Lawrence
“I'm just visiting, but since I've been here it's probably about 30 percent between the Merc and Farmer's Market, which is much more than back home.”
