Are you careful about throwing away private information?
Asked at Massachusetts Street on September 20, 2007
“Yeah, I pretty much always shred it or burn it.”
“I’m not nearly careful enough. I never destroy any of that stuff.”
“This year I really have been careful because Lawrence is a little bigger than where I used to live and my dad bought me a paper shredder to get rid of it.”
“I shred most of the credit card mail that I get. I think it’s silly that people are so concerned about online ordering and mail theft when they’ll hand over their credit card to anybody waiting on them. Identity theft isn’t a new thing.”

T_O_B, I can see how a guy with a pad of paper and a camera could do that to a person. The last time Andy answered the OTS question he was a cynical business owner.
RETICENT_IRREVERENT 5 years, 8 months ago
Whose private information? I wonder if Andy lives in a pineapple under the sea?
jonas 5 years, 8 months ago
Yep, and I launder all of my money too!

I shred all my mail and then carefully mix it with biosolids before throwing it away.
conservativepunker 5 years, 8 months ago
I love my shredder.
Agnostick 5 years, 8 months ago
Everything is shredded and then fed to the compost pile.
Yes, it does work. You can put newspaper strips, shredded white paper, vegetable and fruit scraps/peelings, coffee grounds, egg shells.
No glossy paper, or envelopes with plastic windows.
No meat scraps or bones of any kind.
No grease or oil.
Everything else is fair game!

Oh no! Her dad bought her a shredder to get rid of Lawrence! Look out!

I also purchased a locking mailbox (I live out in the boonies) so people cannot get my mail. Now if I could just get the postal carrier to stick the mail ALL the way THROUGH the slot . . .
sgtwolverine 5 years, 8 months ago
I burn everything. And then I feed the ashes through a shredder. Then I burn the shredder.
ms_canada 5 years, 8 months ago
I have a small stove in my living room and I burn all the credit card and bank stuff HEY Ceallach - are you with us this am. Do you remember the color of the old steam train that we rode on last year when we toured Fort Edmonton Park? If you remember green you are right. But, if you go see the new movie out about Jesse James starring Brad Pitt, you will not recognize it, because at a cost of $6000 per gallon it was painted black for the movie. Yes, folks, if you go see that movie, take note of the buildings and streets because they filmed parts of that movie in our own heritage park. We are justly proud of our Ft. Edmonton Park. It is really something. Right ceallach?

What I do with my trash is post in online for everyone to read and think I'm smrat. Hey, how is it that sponge bob used to be a business owner? Can you search for these people and profile them? Or does R_I work for Homeland Security? I'm just asking because my brain is balanced funny and I like to stalk in my free time.

ontheotherhand~ Offer your mail carrier a plate of cookies into which you've baked some Viagra. Pretty soon, he'll be stuffing that mail in, shouting, "Take it ALL, b.....!!!"
That Simpleton stole my idea.. Oh, well. Simple minds think alike, I guess.
Gootsie 5 years, 8 months ago
Ms. Canada, I hope Ceal isn't too timid about posting, after her "keyboard" lashing she got yesterday from plain jane. It was interesting to say the least.
py - HILARIOUS!!!
ms_canada 5 years, 8 months ago
Gootsie - somehow I don't think ceallach is very easily intimidated. She will take it with a grain of salt. I must go back and read that, I missed it.
Pywacket 5 years, 8 months ago
Gootsie and Ms C~ Perhaps Ceal is busy stuffing Jane's smirking face into the office shredder and will return to OTS as soon as she washes her hands and touches up her nails.
jonas 5 years, 8 months ago
Simpleton: "Oh no! Her dad bought her a shredder to get rid of Lawrence! Look out!"
I, uh, don't get it. Can someone throw me a bone here, I seem to be missing something very funny.
Ceallach 5 years, 8 months ago
Never fear, I'm like a bad penny, I always come back ;-)
I use a shredder for dealing with confidential information both at work and home. I prefer to call it "confidential" rather than "private" information. Private has other implications I don't care to address. I've known 2 people who were victims of identity theft and although they eventually straightened it out, it was a nightmare for them.
ms_c, I hope they repaint it, I liked the green.
Py, didn't even have to touch up my nails . . . I always wear gloves when I handle trash! (I'm guessing Jane is back on his/her meds today.)
You boys stop picking on Andy, I think he's a cutie-patootie.
ontheotherhand 5 years, 8 months ago
Pywacket, I don't think Viagra works the same way on women . . . . . :)
Jonas, in Rebecca's sentence, "it" refers to Lawrence (even though I doubt she intended that). So the sentence sounds like she is saying that he dad bought her a shredder so that she can get rid of Lawrence. Ah, word humor!
ontheotherhand 5 years, 8 months ago
Oops, that should read "her" dad bought her a shredder so that she can get rid of Lawrence.
Azure_Attitude 5 years, 8 months ago
I bought a shredder so I didn't have to tear crap into tiny pieces. Blasted paper cuts!! Well, no more!
Ceal, glad to see you aren't letting Miss Jane (Yeah, I envision Nancy Kulp) get to ya! She should've asked somebody before she decided to get down on a beloved of the OTS'ers.
snap_pop_no_crackle 5 years, 8 months ago
Mr. Oblivious here missed the whole Jane thing yesterday. Not of the same order as a *** incident, but entertaining all the same.
Ceallach 5 years, 8 months ago
Thank you, AA!! At first I thought he/she was joking but realized that was not the case. I figure it's someone's alter ego which they periodically vent through another username. Whoever it is they definitely have a problem with the female staff at KU. If he/she has to strike out at someone, guess I'm as good a target as anyone else. Except for the fact that it takes more than that to get under my skin. Through the years I've learned to save my powder for the shots that count, and Jane's little snit-fit didn't qualify. I try not to lose my temper very often because I really do not do it well. Mind you I do it better than O.J. but then again, who doesn't :):)
Ceallach 5 years, 8 months ago
I wish I could share my music with all y'all. "Chasing Moonlight," Love Songs of Ireland by Finbar Furey. Ahhhhhhhh.
Azure_Attitude 5 years, 8 months ago
Like she is even KU web police anyway. If she was she wouldn't give you a heads up about it. Since she's not and obviously on the web herself all day she's quite the hypocrite.
It's a sad, sad person who attempts to be such a kill joy.
Ceallach 5 years, 8 months ago
Well, pity those who never develop an Azure Attitude :):)
GretchenJP 5 years, 8 months ago
LOL Simpleton!!
GretchenJP 5 years, 8 months ago
Poo Poo Jane. If she can't take the heat she needs to stay off the discussion board.
ms_canada 5 years, 8 months ago
ceal - I love Finbar Furey, have a nice tape of the Furey team along with Davey Arthur. I love his singing too. The lovelest Irish music. Oh and by the way, there is a premiere of the movie tonight in Calgary at their film fest. I mean The Assassination of Jesse James. Wish I could go.
Pywacket 5 years, 8 months ago
Jane is also a cowardly custard. Check this out: http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2007/sep/18/pedestrian_injured_23rd_street_accident/#c420890
As you will see, she made some truly nasty comments to someone who had already been through quite enough, and has not had the nads to go back and apologize (even though yours truly called her out) after it became overwhelmingly apparent that the poor person was telling the truth and not lying, as Jane had asserted. Quite the set of ethics.
Thanks, A_A, for the amusing visual. I had imagined her as much less attractive than the late, great Ms. Kulp, but I suppose we should be charitable.
Hi, Gretchen, if you are the Gretchen I think you are. ;-) Hi, anyway, even if you are not.
GretchenJP 5 years, 8 months ago
Hi Pywacket. I'm probably not the Gretchen you're thinking of... it's my middle name and Jody is my first. :) But hello anyway!
Sounds like Jane needs to lighten up and pull the cob outta her *&%.
sunflower_sue 5 years, 8 months ago
sgt's comment had me rolling and then Py's about made me lose bladder control. Must do more kegels!
Private info...It all gets burned.
GretchenJP 5 years, 8 months ago
How ironic is it that we're discussing disclosing personal information and I just reveal my first and middle name for all of the LJW readers to see. I is smart.
Ceallach 5 years, 8 months ago
TOB, he/she is farther gone that I realized. However, if it's compassion Jane is looking for all I can do is tell him/her where to find it in the dictionary . . . somewhere between b**ches and fata$$ed.
Welcome Gretchen!! That's one wild website!! Woo Hoo!! Coincidentally, it is currently playing Breaking Benjamin - Diary of Jane.
GretchenJP 5 years, 8 months ago
Thanks for checkin it out, Ceallach and KEEP LISTENING because I'll be doing my Mistress Jody show again soon. You'll love it.
Whoops! Was I allowed to say all that in this forum?
