C1, it was a shady day yesterday. Don't lose faith! I'm going to get you a pair!

Oh, Harry Potter? No. But I know how they feel and isn't it neat to be excited about SOMETHING?

sunflower_sue 10 years, 11 months ago

My kiddies just started to read the books a couple of weeks ago. Oldest is on book 4 and youngest is on book 3. THEY are waiting to borrow the book from my sis after she's done buying/reading it. My family/friends are a wealth of free reading material. :D

Honestly, though, I don't give a flying hoot about Harry or Voldamort or whatever his name is. It's all about Ron and Hermione for me. Are those two ever going to let loose or what? Oh the tension just kills me!

Christine Pennewell Davis 10 years, 11 months ago

No not really going to buy it at least for awhile will ask my niece how it turns out. Am still working on the first one with my seven year old so it is slow going, am making her read as much as possible then helping with the words she can not get so this will take awhile. Have seen the movies she likes them. I am always glad when kids get excited about reading, so I hope a new set of good books come out to get a new generation into reading like Harry Potter did, would like to see my youngest find reading fun and entertaining.

Ceallach 10 years, 11 months ago

Not really. The only release I am truly looking forward to is inmates :)

acg 10 years, 11 months ago

Yes, we're very excited. My 7 year old son (who I'm proud to say has been reading at the 4th grade level since kindergarten) finished #6 last night. I let him stay up til he finally read the last of it and that was almost midnight. When Dumbledore died he came running out of his room in tears and hysterics just openly sobbing about it. It broke my heart. I have some reserved copies at Borders of #7, one for him and one for me. He wanted to go at midnight and get them, but that seems a bit extreme.

acg, a spoiler alert would have been appropriate there.

I am waiting for my copy. I hope that Ron and Hermione hookup.

I think Snape dies an heroic death. I've been avoiding all accounts of the novel until I can read it next week.

acg 10 years, 11 months ago

Shoot, I'm sorry. I figured anyone who was really into the books had already gotten thru #6. My bad, folks. I sawwy.

acg 10 years, 11 months ago

I am still not convinced on Snape. My hubby is all "I think he's going to surprise you and turn out to be a good guy" but no, I think he's a ba*tard and I will stick to my feelings until #7 proves otherwise.

Especially for those who just need a little Harry fix to keep you going through the day! Share it with your kiddies and enjoy it while you think of me all day when this song gets stuck in you head!

Oh and Acg, you should take your son to Borders tonight even if only for a little while. They are going to have an AMAZING party. If I didn't have to stay up all night Sat. with my own 100 HP fans, I'd be there with every kid I know. Heck, I still may show up even though I need to get some sleep tonight.

booklover 10 years, 11 months ago

Oops meant YOUR head. Sorry for the typo. Still kinda new at this.

conservativepunker 10 years, 11 months ago

I am so sick of hearing about this. I hope the myopic little twerp is killed off.

mom_of_three 10 years, 11 months ago

My eldest has read all the books, and I usually get them when she is finished (and sometimes I grab it when she is asleep). For release of #6, she talked her dad into buying it at midnight. She wants to do that for this one, too. I ordered a copy from Amazon, which will be delivered next week. But she doesn't want to wait that long.

budwhysir 10 years, 11 months ago

I have been waiting so the time will pass and I will not have to hear about it all the time. All the talk and coverage of the release means one thing, more revenues, I think they should put off releasing it for another month, maybe they would take in some extra money.

sunflower_sue 10 years, 11 months ago

acg, all's forgiven. Besides, jonas beat you to the punch a day or two ago. Darn spoilers! ;) Also, If your like me and are waiting for the movie to come out...well, on second thought, I may just have to buckle down and read 7 books before that happens!

Have a good day ya'll.

Ceal, glad to see you back and your answer was very classy!

sgtwolverine 10 years, 11 months ago

I haven't read any of the books, so no, I'm not really awaiting the release of the seventh book. I am not anti-Potter; I just haven't been motivated to read them. However, a couple weeks ago, I did re-read one of my favorite books. (But not a Harry Potter book.)

Okay, so in a way, I am awaiting the release of the book. But not for the book itself. Really, I'm just waiting for the hype to die down.

Linda Endicott 10 years, 11 months ago

I always wait to buy them until they come out in paperback anyway. Much cheaper that way. Believe it or not, I was able to avoid finding out what happened in book 6 until I read it in paperback. Easy enough to do if you don't go hunting up every website about Harry Potter, and change the channel if they start talking about it on TV.

There is nothing important enough to make me want to stand in line for perhaps hours in the middle of the night.

beatrice 10 years, 11 months ago

I already know how it ends. Spoiler alert!!!: Gollum will fall with the ring into the molten lava, thus destroying the ability for evil to rule all of Middle Earth, while Frodo gets airlifted away to safety by a really big eagle. The end.

Speaking of Gollum -- for your pleasure:

sgtwolverine 10 years, 11 months ago

Thanks a lot, bea. Now I'm not even going to bother with the final installment in the Lord of the Potter series.

coolmom 10 years, 11 months ago

i could really care less about the potter thing but my kids love it and we will be doing a borders party tonight starting at 8pm....i remember when friday night had a whole different set of activities many years ago. now i just miss the sleep.

beatrice 10 years, 11 months ago

People are starting to line up already to buy the book?!? I'll bet many of these folks will stay in touch with their friends using the iPhone they stood in line for last month.

I think wasting time standing in line for something you can purchase the next day without a line, and televised golf, prove that life really is too long.

lounger 10 years, 11 months ago

(From Lounger Jr.) I can't wait until tonight. I think that It will be the most exiting book in the Harry Potter series!!! I love Harry Potter and I hate that it will be the last one!!!

Ceallach 10 years, 11 months ago

All y'all need to start praying for President Bush. I just received a news break that power will be temporarily turned over to Cheney this Saturday while the prez has a medical procedure :-\

beatrice 10 years, 11 months ago

Gee, I wonder what operation the President is going to get? I hope it is the same one the Scarecrow wanted.

acg 10 years, 11 months ago

pywacket, that was the best post ever! That just made my freakin' day!!

Ceallach 10 years, 11 months ago

Thanks, Goots!!! With a slideshow, no less!! Waaaaayyyyy tooooo much information. Don't want to watch it for fear I may never get the image out of my mind.

packrat 10 years, 11 months ago

"Pywacket (Anonymous) says:

Ceal~ It won't work-it's stuck too far up in there. They tried to pull it out once before, if I recall.

I dunno-maybe if they squirt a whole lotta Oil of Rovee up there, twist his shoulders, and pull realllllll hard:"

I laughed so hard I shot tea out my nose!!

Linda Aikins 10 years, 11 months ago

What is Oil of Rovee? Something to do with Roe v Wade???

beatrice 10 years, 11 months ago

Pywacket, my post pales in comparison. I am humbled by your comedic genius. bea

sunflower_sue 10 years, 11 months ago

And to think of all the good belly laughs I would have missed if I hadn't checked back here today. Good gravy you all are funny today! (Must be Friday, Friday, FriDAY!)

beatrice 10 years, 11 months ago

Marion, isn't Emma young enough to be the daughter of your grandchild? Gross.

oldfashiongirl 10 years, 11 months ago

Richard Cory,

Thank you so much for the info on the ball of twine, as well as the tip on buying tall men's clothing. I'll pass that portion on to my son.

Prospector, thank you also for the link to ball of twine. Sounds like something I would enjoy seeing.

As for Harry Potter book, I am simply not interested, but am glad that so many people can get excited about something.

trollkiller 10 years, 11 months ago

Sorry Marion, but you at 55 writing on a web page that an 18 year-old is "Hot" is creepy. If an 18 year-old were attracted to someone in your (the Viagra generation) age, that would be equally creepy.
