Do you think people your age will have to worry about the draft?
“I think that if the war keeps getting worse they will. Not many people want to go, and they don't want to join the military while there's a war going on. It's hard to recruit people, so a draft might be necessary.”
— Niki Miller, junior, Lawrence High School
“I don't think that the draft is something that people should be worried about. A lot of people are just really lazy. If people are reluctant to join, I don't necessarily think the draft is a bad thing. Sometimes people have to be pushed.”
— Yaroslav Nazarenko, junior, LHS
“I don't think so. I think there will always be enough people who want to join the military, so that it won't be a problem.”
— Tayler Tolefree,, sophomore, LHS
“I don't think it will come to that in the immediate future, but if we decide to take action against North Korea and Iran, it could be very possible.”
— Chase Johnson, senior, LHS
“I hope not. We need to worry more about our education and our future. We shouldn't have to worry about the draft.”
— Jamie Battiest, sophomore, LHS
“Possibly. I've noticed that the military keeps getting more desperate. They keep lowering their standards and requirements. Once they've exhausted what they can lower, they will have to make people join.”
— Morteza Rabii, senior, LHS
“I don't really think it will come to that. I don't think that would go over well with the majority of the population. I just don't think the American people will stand for it.”
— Michael Willmert, senior, LHS
“Yeah, I do. I think they are running out of people who want to join. Eventually they will have to make people.”
— Tiffany Demaline, junior, LHS
