“I sure hope so. I think she’s doing a good job. That’s all that matters - isn’t it? - no matter what party she’s in.”

Photo of Carol Ellis

“Yes. I think her present term has gone well. I think many people in Kansas are looking for a mainstream candidate and want to turn the tide away from the right-wing religious movement.”

Photo of Rupert Pate

“Yeah. I think she brings a much-needed Democratic balance to the state.”

“She probably will. If she continues to help education and find more money for it, she should win.”

She probably will. I like her overall, but sometimes she sits back and lets the legislature find solutions instead of being more of a leader and getting support for solutions she could come up with. I know that is difficult when you are governor of a state whose legislature is of a different party than you, but it can be done. Look at all Mitt Romney accomplished in Massachusetts.

She has successfully distanced herself from any blame associated with the state's inability to fund education. She with blame the legislature for failing to expand gambling.

Hey... Where are the 'fair and balanced' views here?? Why didn't LJworld get the 'other side'? I am sure if the governor were a republican, they would have found 4 liberals to bash him.

I can't stand her. She is not handling our money well and keeps throwing it at the schools, yet the teachers are barely making enough to survive. We need a conservative governor who will hold the administration at the schools to account for how they spend it. After all, it is OUR money, and I would rather see more of it go to the GOOD teachers who deserve it.

It's nice to see people looking at the person, and not the affiliation. The winning/losing attitude in party politics is making all of us losers.

Do I think she will? Yes.
Do I want her to? No.

I think Darrell Arthur should run for governor.

Of course, as a resident of Michigan, I don't really matter in this one. I'm stuck up here with Jennifer Granholm.

Hey Satchel, How would a conservative governor, one against taxes(afterall, it's our money), be able to adequately finance our schools? Look at the success of your (and unfortunately, ours) conservative president's education program.

I haven't followed things too closely, but it sounds like Sebelius is doing a fairly good job, and Kansas has had quite a bit of success in the past as basically a Republican state with a Democratic governor. Here in Utah, that combination has worked well in the past, too.

I certainly agree that she would be a MUCH better presidential candidate than Hilary, if either were being considered. The Democrats would absolutely "cook their goose" (again) if they choose EITHER Hilary OR Gore for the next time around.

Believe it or not: What bankboy said! Hell just froze over ya'll. Go buy your plastic and duct tape!

Gnome, it was good to see you on last nights board. Welcome back!!! I've missed you.

BTW, I'm a democrat. Just can't stand the woman! No facts...just don't like her.

I am pleased that she will run again and I hope that she will be victorious. She has had a pretty good run so far.

Hopefully this term she can help us take back the School Board, fund the schools, rebuild the national guard, help with health care and address our energy concerns. After all being progressive makes us stronger!

Yes I do think she'll win another term. She's doing a pretty decent job considering what she's up against. On a personal note, I deal with Gov. Sebelius and her office all the time in my current job. Two of my three supervisors sit on councils or boards that she's set up. In person, she's a fantastic lady, really down to earth and has a great sense of humor. And unlike most politicians, she doesn't make me feel as if I need a shower whenever I've been around her.

I think she'll win again.

I also think Kansas, regardless of party affiliation, should be proud to have one of Time Magazine's top 5 governors.

"Gotta keep funneling that tax revenue from the abortion mills to fund that abstinence-free sex education, dontcha know." How ridiculous -- EVERYBODY knows that isn't true. The abortion mills don't bring in taxes - they are tax free entities, with the funds for operation obviously taken directly from the national security coffers!

Defender, you win the booby prize. Wondered how long it would take someone to pounce on that. You are true to your moniker.:o)

Defender - re:I just don't like her. As an elder here on this board, I have to say that over the years having feelings about public persons, I have learned to trust those feelings implicitely as the I just don't like her/him feeling has proved to be correct. this also applies to people I meet in real life. First impressions rarely seem to be wrong. And please don't make the mistake in thinking that it could have been a self-fulfilling prophecy. They turned out to be rotten people in the opinion of others also. And the facts did not lie.

I would vote for the guy who came up with the Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" commercials. Unless he ran for a serious position, like drain commisioner or something.

paladin 9 years, 6 months ago

I think she is way too thin for a Kansas woman and is not representative of Kansas women in general. I'd like the governor to be more full-figured. Evidently, she can shoot straight, so that's a good quality.

KSChick1 9 years, 6 months ago

god bless ya paladin from a full-figured gal

Ceallach 9 years, 6 months ago

I think she will. We haven't done that bad with Sebeilius. I too have met her and find her to be very personable. She and I only disagree on a couple of things, but they are biggies!! Whether or not I vote for her again will depend on who is chosen as her opponent. I always try to weigh the issues and vote for the person who most represents my views. (Which can be very frustrating if I change my mind about something half way through a term :)

I want my governor back. You guys mind if she comes down to run Texas for a while?

I miss having Kathleen Sebelius as a governor. Now I have 'Governor Hairdo', Rick Perry, who said (two days before Rita was destined to nail the Houston area, while thousands of people were still stranded on the roads because of a bollixed evac plan), "Well, I guess we've done all we can do except pray. It's in God's hands now," and essentially gave up the evacuation and safe relocation of his citizens.

Believe me, you all don't know how lucky you are. On the bright side, the coming four-way TX gubernatorial election will certainly be exciting:

"My Governor is a Jewish Cowboy" "He ain't Kinky, He's my Governor"

Ceallach 9 years, 6 months ago

badger, looks like I need to try to get more info on the TX gov from my family. Problem is everytime we discuss anything remotely political it reminds them of GW and they are pretty much ballistic until the end of the conversation! Them thar Texans carry a grudge for a loooooong time:)

sunflower_sue 9 years, 6 months ago

Ceal, on that note: The Dixie Chicks have a new album. I plan on buying it. No grudge here (but I ain't Texan). :)

badger 9 years, 6 months ago

omb -

I like that one too. I have a feeling Kinky may carry Austin, and I'm pretty amused by that. The Democrat isn't very popular, Perry is Universal Evil in the People's Republic, and Strayhorn is too recently a conservative Republican to do well.

Sure, he won't win the election, probably, but he's sure going to make it a hell of a run.
