Do you think traffic-calming devices are effective?

Asked at Massachusetts Street on February 28, 2006

“No. I think they're an inconvenience. Especially the roundabouts, because nobody knows how to use them or whose turn it is.”

“They would be, if people knew how to use them. People misuse them out of ignorance, not because they mean to.”

“I think people here have a problem with them because they're rare. Another problem is that the roundabouts here aren't really roundabouts. They're just an intersection with something in the middle.”

“Yes, because you have to slow down when you come to one. Otherwise people would just fly down the road, and that's dangerous.”
