nice to see the Sharpe series mentioned, many more just as good in that series beyond "Rifles."

the fellow reading Sherlock Holmes, you might like "schlock Holmes" by Fish, it is a good parody.

now reading a collection of western short stories by greats in that field; just finished one by O. Henry. good.
