What a way to waste time. It's OK if you don't mind a 3" viewing area. Some things you can't find elsewhere. I'd say the average age of this board is higher than the average age of the Youtube user. Maybe we should do a roundabout search? I'm expecting some good links to be posted...and a few bannings.

Yeah I do. It's good for marketing! Check out my YouTube at www.youtube.com/zettapixel

Aren't such disclosures restricted by HIPPA?
acg 6 years, 9 months ago
LOL ceallach. :) Yes, I love youtube. I've seen some funny stuff there. I don't search it much but people send me links to videos there all the time. There are some pretty freaky people out there in the world, doing pretty freaky stuff on video. How can you not love that?

Not sure how they got the middle man to rise, but perhaps the LJ Editors should check more closely when spell checking -Alleviates

Dude, I was perplexed by that statement. That makes more sense.
Anyway, youtube is interesting. A friend of mine uses it to find music videos for songs she likes so she can hear the songs on demand for free.

Phelps is protesting a rainbow flag, owned by people who are not even gay. Well, I guess they're out there protesting every time there's a rainbow in the sky .. bloody idiots. It's time the law came down on Phelps' mob ..
Pywacket 6 years, 9 months ago
I don't go looking for stuff, but my husband or son will occasionally insist that I watch something that they deem hilarious. Last week we watched the Ok Go video "Here It Goes Again."
Within 2 days after seeing it on YouTube, I was hearing about those guys everywhere. Damian Kulash was even on The Colbert Report (and, for the record, he was charming and unassuming) the very next night.
So I guess YouTube can raise your awareness so that you're just ahead of the curve on some cultural phenoms... not that that's important, but kinda fun.
sgtwolverine 6 years, 9 months ago
From that article, I'm having trouble figuring out if they have a reason for flying the flag other than that their son sent it to them. I can't tell if they're showing support for the gay cause or something like that, or if they just like the flag.
In any case, the Phelps gang is disgusting. The only point he proves is that he has no idea how to properly communicate with the rest of the world.
Ceallach 6 years, 9 months ago
sgt, he seems to hate the rest of the world, especially the USA. What they do to their children should be considered child abuse!
craigers 6 years, 9 months ago
Actually sgt, he communicates with signs and pictures to help us understand!!!
Yes that was sarcasm.
libraffe 6 years, 9 months ago
I think we're going to start creating and using video as a communication medium a lot more and YouTube's popularity is a sign of things to come.
sunflower_sue 6 years, 9 months ago
Never heard of it until TOB linked that hillarious Australian guy "interviewing" Phelps' son. That was quite funny, indeed!
sgtwolverine 6 years, 9 months ago
I guess that town is a different world from my area. I'm pretty sure most people in the Ann Arbor area would see a rainbow flag and would not see just pretty colors.
acg 6 years, 9 months ago
pywacket I've seen that video too. That's awesome, btw. What an interesting thing to do with treadmills.

And I missed Katie?......
Jeans and a t-shirt no less? Was she at least in a pair of Doc Martens? Mmmmmm....
acg 6 years, 9 months ago
It's funny you mention that TOB. My husband says to me, around the time of the first tornado touchdown "I bet Katie Runforyourlife Horner (that's what we call her) was p*ssed that she had the day off and then all of this interesting weather happened". Not 20 minutes later, she's there, in her day off clothes, giving you minute by minute info and being so dreadfully serious. Way more so than the poor sclub who was on before her. We were rolling, also.
sgtwolverine 6 years, 9 months ago
Gootsie, that is amazing. 5000 points to Gootsie!
Pywacket 6 years, 9 months ago
Well, shoot... I'm gonna have to stop getting my weather info from the skies, radio, & internet and turn on the tube. This Katie sounds like a trip. I heard the tornado announcement on KCUR (89.3 fm) but stopped listening as soon as they announced the area, which was in MO, I believe. Didn't think another thing of it.
I take it Katie would be in her element if a twister actually hit the KC metro area?
Wait--better idea: twister takes out the entire Phelps compound-- hater body parts rain down all over the nearby Topeka Zoo--lions sickened by eating the tainted meat. What would Katie wear for that broadcast?
H_Lecter 6 years, 9 months ago
The less publicity Phelps gets, the better. His group doesn't even deserve space on youtube.
sgtwolverine 6 years, 9 months ago
Py, if they ate the tainted meat, I think the lions would begin protesting the peacocks before too long.
crazyks 6 years, 9 months ago
I guess not, since I've never heard of YouTube.
sunflower_sue 6 years, 9 months ago
TOB, another great link! My sis called me yesterday to tell me that Katie "we'reallgonndie!" Horner was on in jeans & ballcap to tell us about this water that was falling from the sky. I guess she thinks her crew just can't handle telling us about the weather on her days off. I didn't tune in. I was too busy running the shop vac in my basement.
sunflower_sue 6 years, 9 months ago
Oh m'gosh! I just realized I've responded to TOB twice today. Please don't think I'm flirting with you. ;) (I hope your wife isn't a deadeye like RI's.)
Gootsie 6 years, 9 months ago
"Py, if they ate the tainted meat, I think the lions would begin protesting the peacocks before too long."
Good stuff today!!! Hannibal, I'm guessing even YOU would let that meat go to waste!
Pywacket 6 years, 9 months ago
Good one, Sgt... I can see it now--lions killing the peacocks then protesting at their funerals..
My guess is that even the landfills would regurgitate that meat.

Was he in trouble in Thailand? Or just arrested because of developments here? Hmmm, could it possibly be that he wanted out of Thailand and away from their judicial system?
sunflower_sue 6 years, 9 months ago
Ceal, I had read that he was being investigated (at least) for child porn in Thailand. I figured then that this was just a nice way to get himself out of that country where it said they had severe punishment if convicted of a crime like that. (I don't remember where I read it so take all that info w/ a grain of salt...as usual :))
I still think that momma did it or at the very least covered up for someone else.
Ban stage-moms!
sunflower_sue 6 years, 9 months ago
I have to mention this just because it was soooooo gross!
Yesterday we were eating at a buffet. A man picked up a plate and immediately started having a coughing fit. Instead of immediately excusing himself to the bathroom, he proceeded to cough all over the food. Then he would turn a little and cough over the food he missed at another section. This went on for approx 2 minutes. After he was done, he used the fist that he was coughing into to pick up the serving utensils and fill his plate. By the time he was done, he had coughed over 2 buffet tables and the drink station. We were done!
I'm just asking any "Miss Manners" out there what we, the other restaurant patrons, were supposed to do in that situation??? We just sat there stupified and then paid our bill and left.
RETICENT_IRREVERENT 6 years, 9 months ago
That's a shame to buoy the family's hope, then have it dashed.
Unless of course...
Well... . . . "If the world were good for nothing else, it is a fine subject for speculation."
jonas 6 years, 9 months ago
Sue: What I would reccommend is, while it's actually happening, just walk right up to him; don't say anything, but have an exaggerated shocked/bemused/confused with one eyebrow cocked up type look on your face and keep flicking your eyes between him and the food on the buffet table. Make him ask what you're looking at/is there a problem at least 2 times before answering, too. If he just ignores you he's beyond hope, but follow him around doing that fake smoker cough anyway until he goes and sits down anyway. Grab some food while you're up there, even if you don't eat it. Podcast it on YouTube, if you have a camera phone.
Of course, I also think the best thing to do, if someone cuts in line at a fast food resteraunt is to snarl at them to mark your territory, so take that into your consideration as well.
sunflower_sue 6 years, 9 months ago
Jonas, I guess what I failed to mention was that the ENTIRE restaurant stopped to stare at the dude. We all looked shocked and horrified...even the employees. Being "little miss Purell on a keychain," I don't know how close I'd want to get to "hacking dude." He surely got the message from all the looks he was getting? Next time, though, I'll video it for you. :)
Tychoman 6 years, 9 months ago
Sue, I wouldn't have paid the bill. I'd ask the guy "Look, are you going to eat that or not don't just stand there deciding..."
Just kidding. I'd ask if he were okay and of course he'd say "yeah cough wheeze give me huff a second sneeze" to which I would say "Well if you're all right, please go cough on someone else's food...oh wait THIS IS THE BUFFET IT'S EVERYBODY'S FOOD!"
Purell 6 years, 9 months ago
I would have approached the staff and asked then to remove him from the food area and remove all food already exposed to his coughing as a health concern. If they hesitated, I would insist that they comly or I would have to report the incident to the health dept.
