Should the Lawrence police be equipped with stun guns?
Asked at Lawrence Post Office, 645 Vt. on May 20, 2004
“I think stun guns would be a good idea if there were enough funds to equip the force. But the way the economy is now, I can’t see spending $80,000 on stun guns.”
“It all depends on the situation. I know there are a lot of people who get violent and sometimes they need more than pepper spray.”
“Part of me feels it’s better to use nonlethal force, but you have to weigh that against some of the negative instances with stun guns. I think pepper spray should be enough.”
“I would say that, no, it’s not worth the expense. They need stronger measures than what’s currently available to them, though.”
