Is an all-volunteer military force enough to handle current threats or is a draft required?

Asked at Seventh Street on June 24, 2004

“What we have now is OK. People who are there want to be there. People who are drafted probably wouldn't put their whole heart into it.”

“I think it should stay the way it is. The draft caused a lot of hardship on families when they did it before.”

“All-volunteer. My husband is a recruiter, and I know how hard how hard the military is right now.”

“They're going to have to go back to the draft. They don't have enough people volunteering. We have a good military, but not enough of them. Too many cutbacks.”
