Do you think Kansas schools can be properly funded without a tax increase?

Asked at Massachusetts Street on July 23, 2004

“I don't know. I hope so because it seems like everyone is so hellbent against raising taxes. But my gut reaction is no.”

“Mathematically, that doesn't seem to work. Something suffers. If you take from some other fund, you're just hurting that other area.”

“I don't think they can. I don't have children, but I have to support other people's children, and that bothers me.”

“We need more money in order to really meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind. In Iowa we have more than enough money for roads and transportation, but other vital services, like schools, are being cut.”
