Anna Ruckman Brown

Anna Lee Collier, 90, of Baldwin City, was born in January, 1927, on the family farm in rural Gentry County, Missouri, to Elza and Hazel (Robison) Collier. She passed away May 4, 2017, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS.
Anna Lee graduated from Albany High School, Albany, MO. She married J.W. (Joe) Ruckman in January, 1949, in Grant City, MO. Her early married years were spent raising children, homemaking, and farming. To their union five children were born: Sharilyn, Jo Marie, Bill, Karen, and Bryan.
In August, 1997, she married Bill Brown, of Harrisonville, MO. They traveled and moved to Texas to enjoy retirement, later returning to Baldwin City to be near family.
Anna Lee was hard working and instilled this work ethic into her children and their children. She loved making her home beautiful and comfortable, trying new recipies, entertaining large family gatherings, and creating cross stitch wall decor. She took pride in her appearance, dressing up and accessorizing with scarves and jewelry every day until her last.
Anna Lee had many jobs in her lifetime, including factory worker as well as being a mother, grandmother, great­ grandmother, and farm wife.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brother John Collier, infant daughter Karen, husband J.W. (Joe) Ruckman, and husband Bill Brown.
She is survived by: daughters Sharilyn Ruckman, of Kansas City, MO, and Jo (Lew) Ruona, of Baldwin City, KS; sons Bill (Beth) Ruckman, of Lake Waukomis, MO, and Bryan (Mindy) Ruckman, of Sedalia, MO; six grandchildren and four great­grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3306 Greenridge Rd., Sedalia, MO 65301 on Monday, May 22 at 1:00 p.m.
