Glenn Donald Breithaupt

Funeral services for Glenn Donald Breithaupt, 78, Lawrence, will be at 11 am Tuesday at Lawrence First Church of the Nazarene, 1470 N. 1000 Rd., with Dr. Don Dunn and Rev. Bob Giffin officiating. Burial will follow at Worden Cemetery. Glenn died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar. He was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Worden, the son of Donald C. and Evelyn R. Nuffer Breithaupt. He graduated from Lawrence High School. Glenn was a crane operator and mechanic at Farmland Industries for 42 years. He also worked with his father in a cattle operation, and loved helping Don and Jeri on the farm, enjoyed the outdoors, working in the yard, spending time with family, and Sunday lunches. Glenn was a loving caregiver to his wife for more than 20 years, and was a lifelong member of the church. Glenn married Brenda J. Penny on Apr. 18, 1958, in Lawrence. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Don W. Breithaupt, his wife Janet, and their children Amy Newell (Daniel), MacKenzie Breithaupt, Jay Amyx (Tracy), and Joe Amyx; two daughters, Kris Oehlert, her husband Paul, and their children Samantha Wright (Zach), and Kasey Oehlert, and Carrie Shuck, her husband Brad, and their children Taylor Shuck and Connor Shuck; four siblings, Kenny Breithaupt and wife Patty, Lawrence, Sylvia Haas, Los Angeles, Jeri Breithaupt and wife Paulette, Lawrence, Nancy Brenn and husband Doug, Lawrence; a sister in law, Jan Breithaupt, Baldwin City; six great grandchildren, Rock, Xavier, Braxton, Breaker, Hayden, and Vossen. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Doug Breithaupt; and a brother in law, John Haas. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at the church.
