Floyd G. Ford

Floyd G. Ford of Baldwin City, KS passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, MO. He was born February 3, 1926 in Sugar Creek, MO the son of Samuel L. and Leah (Tadlock) Ford. In early childhood the family moved to Sheldon, MO and then to Baldwin City, KS in 1941. Floyd graduated from Baldwin High School, Class of 1943. He was united in marriage to Peggy Lee Jardon on April 23, 1950. They shared over sixtysix wonderful years together. Floyd served our country in the Kansas National Guard. Floyd farmed all his life. He was a Teamster truck driver for seventeen years; Carpenter; Custodian for Baldwin Elementary School; and retired as a Lead Maintenance Man for The University of Kansas. He was a member of Ives Chapel United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, KS; worked with Boy Scouts for over 30 years and was a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. Mr. Ford was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elouise Ford; and a son, David Ford. Survivors include, his wife, Peggy Ford; a son, Charles Ford & wife Kathryn of Blue Springs, MO; two grandsons, Chandler Ford & wife Amanda of Georgetown, KY and Tanner Ford & wife Michelle of Blue Springs, MO; four greatgrandchildren, Adison and Ansley Ford of Georgetown, KY, Lillian and Drake Ford of Blue Springs, MO; a brother, Frank Ford & wife, Twila of Peoria, IL; and many cousins; nieces and nephews. To celebrate Floyd’s life, services will be held 6 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church, 1018 Miami Street, Baldwin City, KS 66006; Interment will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery, Baldwin City, KS. The family will receive friends 5 p.m. Sunday before the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Ives Chapel UMC or Boy Scouts of America, Troop 65.
