Lee Seymour Douglass

Lee Seymour Douglass went to his eternal home on February 12, 2016.
Lee was born in Newton, Kansas to Clarence and Evelyn Douglass in 1932. He attended the University of Kansas as a Summerfield Scholar and graduated in 1954 with a B.S. degree in Engineering Physics.
Lee married Shirley Gerry on October 15, 1954. He won a Fellowship and Research Assistantship to Cal Tech to study Geo-Physics in the fall of 1954. In January 1955 he transferred to a four-year seminary in Chicago from which he graduated 1958 and served as a Presbyterian minister from 1958 to 1963.
In 1973, Lee started his own handyman business in Lawrence, KS, relocating to Eudora, KS in 1975. He became a Master Plumber in 1989 and a Master Electrician in 1991. He stated that his main desire was to help people and so he made his services affordable to those without financial means. Lee retired in 1997, but continued to work part-time at the Pinecrest retirement community in Eudora.
Lee authored a book, “A Land Called Treasure”. He also wrote many poems and hymns that portrayed his deep faith in Jesus Christ.
Lee was preceded in death by his sons John Mark Douglass and Kirk Lee Douglass and by his wife Shirley Marguerite Douglass and is survived by his sons: Toby Loren Douglass, Gardner, KS, Stephen Gerry Douglass, Eudora, KS and Nathan Timothy Douglass, El Paso, TX and by his daughters: Deborah Ruth Adhikary, Kathmandu, Nepal, Sarah Ann Albright, Manassas, VA and Rachel Susan Hunt, Olathe, KS and by his 13 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Danforth Chapel at K.U., Saturday, February 20 at 9:30 a.m. Flowers and other condolences can be sent to 12643 S. Hallet St. in Olathe, KS 66062 care of Rachel Hunt.
