Dorothy J. “Dortie” Swantner of Springfield, Missouri, died Friday, May 23, at Springfield Rehab and Health Care Center. Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, from 6-8 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 2 at 10 AM at St. Agnes Cathedral with burial to follow in White Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Swantner was born June 19, 1923 in Springfield, Missouri to Jack and Stella (Walker) Ruyle. She married Edward “Stormy” Swantner, July 21, 1942. They shared over sixty-six years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stormy, and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Frances & O.B. Shipman.
Survivors, included her daughter, Darinda Messer and her husband, John of Lawrence; granddaughter, Jill Nuti and her husband, Mike of Danville California; grandson Michael Messer and his fiancé, Tina Clark of Phoenix, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Karissa Nuti and Jake Nuti, also of Danville. She is also survived by nephews Jack Shipman and his wife, Carol of Lawrence and Jerry Shipman and his wife, Judy of Atlanta, Georgia. Other nieces and nephews also survive.
