Finley Marcellus Fritz

On Wednesday, March 5, 2014 Finley Marcellus Fritz, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Memorial Services for Finley, of Baldwin City will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Inurnment will be at McCotchenville, OH.

Finley was born October 9, 1923 in East Canton, OH the son of Lewis Gotleib and Anna Jane (Fry) Fritz and spent the better part of his 90 years serving others, whether it be in the service of his country, to his wife and children, for his church and community, and most important, his God. Wherever Finley found himself, he always strove to leave the people he came into contact with and the situations he was in better than he found them. He was terrific!

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a 1st Lt. in the Army-Air Force Signal Corp during WW II.

He attended the University of Tennessee for a short time and then went on to attend Whittier College where he received his BA in Physics and from there went on to earn his MBA from CSU-Northridge in Southern California.

He married Anne Carter Monson on August 31, 1951 in Whittier, CA. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Debra “Debby” Johnson, Baldwin City, Cherie A. (David) Anttila; four sons, Randolph B. (Susan) Fritz, Jonathon L. Fritz, Jeffrey C. (Judy) Fritz, Lance M. (Julie) Fritz; fourteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials in his name to Wounded Warrior Project, Turning Point Ministry, or Insight for Living and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
