Christiana Ann Madl (Radke)

Christiana Ann (Radke) Madl, age 47, passed away at her home in rural Baldwin April 21, 2014 after a long illness.
Christina, the daughter of John E. and Laura Lea Peace Radke was born in Hoisington, Ks.
Christina was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church.
A graduate of Hoisington High School 1985. During her high school years she worked at Dairy Queen, The Hoisington Chamber of Commerce and served as assistant manager of the Hoisington Swimming Pool.
She graduated from Barton County Community College School of Cosmetology and the school’s advanced study program and moved to Lawrence where she studied Art History at the University of Kansas.
She married Rick Madl April 23, 1994 and to this union a son, Mitchell John was born. They were later divorced.
She worked as a cosmetologist, nail technician and esthetician. She was employed at GQ Hairstyling Salon and at Scissors Salon in Lawrence. After moving to Baldwin, she was part-owner of Baldwin City Hair & Nail Company. Unable to continue working due to a serious injury, she later designed and made jewelry.
Christina was a very loving, kind and considerate mother, daughter, and friend. One of her great joys was traveling around the country, first with her parents and later with her family.
She is survived by her son, Mitch, her mother Lauralea Radke, Baldwin City, uncles Bill and wife Patricia Radke, Allan Radke, Arlen and wife Mary Lou Peace, and Douglas and wife Erma Peace and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her father.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Baldwin City Community Food Pantry or the Lawrence Homeless Shelter.
Christina will be cremated. Memorial services are set for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Apr. 29 at the Ives Chapel United Methodist Church, 1018 Miami, Baldwin City.
