George Edward Yost

George Edward Yost, 87, passed away on October 17, 2013 in Topeka, Kansas. He was a longtime resident of Lecompton,Kansas.
George was born May 7, 1926 in McLouth, Kansas to William and Alma (Carnahan) Yost. He has sister a Hermoine and a brother Dan both of California. Two brothers and Four sisters preceeded him in death. He graduated from McLouth High School in 1944.
He married Mildred Arlene Johnson on March 12, 1949 in Oskaloosa, Kansas. She preceeded him in death in 2007. They raised two sons, Joe (Sally) Yost of Lecompton and Jay (Donna) Yost of Topeka.
He has 4 grandchildren Heather Ledom, Heidi Yost, Jacob (Tara) Yost, and Joshua Yost, and 1 great grandson Hunter Ledom.
George was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in WWII under General Patton. He was in the 4th Armored Division as a Half Track Driver. He retired from Goodyear with 33 years of service.
His hobbies included gardening, playing his harmonica, and working on vehicles and machines of all types.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at the Lecompton United Methodist Church on Sunday Oct. 20, 2013 from 4-6p.m. Funeral Service will also be held at the United Methodist Church on Monday Oct. 21st at 10:00a.m with graveside immediately following at Ozawkie Cemetery with Military Honors.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Lecompton Historical Society.
George was a member of the American Legion and Lecompton Historical Society.
