Virgil Robert Cumpton

Virgil “Bob” Cumpton, age 82 passed away Sunday at his home in Topeka. Bob was born Novmeber 4, 1930 in Topeka the son of Virgil Cumpton and Leona Belle Cumpton. He graduated from Topeka High School. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force. He was married to Jo Ann Wadle, she passed away April 3, 2013. Bob worked for over 57 years as an electrician for IBEW Local #226 in Topeka. Bob Jo Ann were the owners of K9 Security and Ol’ Town Café in Perry,KS. He was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church and a 50 year member of the Golden Rule Lodge #90 A.F.& A.M. along with the Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies. Bob worked as a Shawnee County Sherriff Department Reserve Officer. He is survived by two sons, Jim (Sabrina) Cumpton of Perry and Robert Cumpton of Topeka; three daughters, Susie (Larry) Hess of Ottawa, Tracy Cumpton of Arvada, CO and Deb (Bill) Arnold of Edgerton; a brother, Gene Cumpton; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. He will lie in state Friday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry.
