Leland McClendon

Leland McClendon, 71, Lawrence, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Mr. McClendon worked as a construction laborer his whole life with multiple companies. Leland also served his country in the US Army.
He was born April 19, 1942 in Rolla, MO, the son of Toney McClendon and Ruby Firestine Skiles, and then moved to the Lawrence area in 1944.
He shared his place of residence with the love of his life, Linda Paulette Place, for the last 27 years.
Mr. McClendon was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Lee McClendon of Severy, KS, both of his parents, a brother, Elmer McClendon and two sisters, Alma Bryant and Nelma Brown.
Survivors include Paulette Place, of the home, a daughter, Belinda K. McClendon, Fall River, KS and four step-children, Tony K. Place, Tommy Wielgopolski, Timothy Wielgopolski and Katherine Wielgopolski, all of Wilkes-Barre, PA, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
At Leland’s request, there will be no services.
Family will have a private ceremony at a later date.
