James Z. Huff

Funeral services for James Z. Huff, 85, Lawrence will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Additional services will be held in Albany, Ky., at a later date with burial at Irwin Cemetery in Clinton County, Ky.
He died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 5, 1926 in Clinton County, the son of Robert A. and Oza May Keeton Huff.
Mr. Huff was a printing pressman for 27 years with the Kansas University Printing Service and retired in 1989. He served in the Army during World War II in the Military Police Corps. For many years, he was a member of the International Organization of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and was a past Grand Master. He also volunteered for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and was an avid fan of KU basketball.
He married Phyllis M. Snavely on April 10, 1956, in Fayetteville, Ark. She preceded him in death March 18, 2003.
Survivors include his daughter, Jannette Lee (Jan) and husband James H. Soper, Lenexa; a sister, Anna Sue Smith, Albany, Ky.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Midwest Ear Institute or to LMH Endowment Association for the Kreider Rehabilitation Facility, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
