Ruby Sifferman Baker

A graveside service for Ruby Sifferman Baker, 95, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rock Prairie Cemetery in Halltown, Mo.
Mrs. Baker died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
She was born Nov. 22, 1913, in Republic, Mo., the daughter of Thomas A. and Bertie Mae Smith Sifferman.
Mrs. Baker spent most of her adult life in Springfield, Mo. She was the church secretary at University Heights Baptist Church for many years. She also worked as a secretary for Springfield R-12 school district until her retirement.
She was a member of University Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, painting and needlework.
She married Joseph Shelton Baker on Dec. 25, 1938, in Springfield, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1983.
She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, including an identical twin.
Survivors include two sons, Darrell E. and wife Brenda, Silver Spring, Md., and Joseph A. and wife Patty, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Valerie Mallon, Deborah Allen, Jennifer Baker-Powers and Kimberly Rosel; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care or a hospice care facility in the donor’s area, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
