Earl R. “Rusty” Flory

Services for Earl R. “Rusty” Flory, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lone Star Church of the Brethren in Lone Star. Burial will be in Washington Creek Cemetery southwest of Lawrence.Mr. Flory died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka.He was born July 3, 1919, in Lone Star, the son of Joseph D. and Lola M. Hoover Flory.Mr. Flory served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 8, 1944, to Oct. 26, 1945. He was a lifelong farmer in the Lone Star community and worked as a pressman at Kansas Color Press for many years. He was a member of Lone Star Church of the Brethren.He married Betty E. Hodge on May 24, 1952, in Lawrence. She died April 6, 2000.Survivors include two sons, Mike, Shawnee, and Jeff, Lawrence; a brother, Roland, Carey, N.C.; a sister, Olive Street, Tecumseh; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
