A person on foot was injured Sunday during the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade, police said.

Around 2 p.m. Sunday, emergency responders were called to the area of 10th and Massachusetts streets for an injury accident, Lawrence Police Sgt. Amy Rhoads said in an email. The person approached a parade float, tripped and was run over by the trailer of the float, Rhoads said.

The person was taken by ambulance to a regional hospital, and the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Rhoads said.

The Journal-World reached out to Lawrence police and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical for details about the incident after the parade Sunday afternoon, but officials initially said details were not available and that they were unable to give any updates Sunday evening. Lawrence police provided more information Monday morning.
