Lawrence police are planning to beef up DUI enforcement on Friday.

The department will conduct a DUI “saturation patrol,” putting extra officers in the field specifically to look for motorists who show signs of impaired driving or other traffic violations, according to a department news release. The effort is funded through the Kansas Department of Transportation.

“The Lawrence Police Department reminds motorists to designate a sober driver, and do your part to help make the streets of Lawrence safer,” the news release said.
