Lawrence man arrested on suspicion of hitting someone in the face with metal object

A Lawrence man was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly hitting someone in the face with a metal object.

The Lawrence Police Department arrested Micheal Jerome Jordan, 50, at 3:10 p.m. Friday on suspicion of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, which is a felony.

Officer Shawn Gross, a spokesman for the Lawrence Police Department, said the police were dispatched to the 700 block of West 25th Street about 2:54 p.m. Friday. Officers found a victim with facial injuries caused by a “blunt metal object.”

Police determined the incident occurred because of an argument between Jordan and the victim. Officers located Jordan shortly after and arrested him at 713 W. 25th St.

Gross did not elaborate on what the metal object was and forwarded further questions to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office. The DA’s office did not immediately respond to a request for more information, and Douglas County District Court was closed Monday for Christmas Eve.

As of late Monday afternoon, Jordan was still in the Douglas County Jail with a bond of $2,500.
